How long before the new helmet rule is abused?

Edisto, if his helmet actually fit it wouldn't have been so easy to rip off.

maybe so, but I still say you're inviting Defenses to rip at the helmet so that the player has to sit out a play. Inevitably, someone is going to get hurt. The rule needs to be rewritten. They are going to get someone injured with this shitty rule. Bottom line.

"15 yard penalty on number 27 of the receiving for blocking a player who had lost his helmet". I have decided that this is the dumbest rule ever.

Wake benefits from a blatant facemask. Also, whats stopping another player from hitting him, especially since he kept running. By rule, i think the rb is suppose to be penalized because he kept playing. Its so stupid.

I agree!! This rule sucks. And the officials aren't calling the personal fouls for the D ripping helmets off. It has to go or be changed. Ridiculous!

At least that ref called a facemask. Did you watch the unc game? Bernard had his helmet completely ripped off and they called block in the back

I saw it this morning on the CBS college wrap up. Un freaking believable. Guy gets his head twisted around backwards and his helmet ripped off and nothing, but god forbid you miss that block in the back, that could really hurt someone right there. Was Ron Cherry there?

He was not, but it was definitely like something he wouldve done. lol

I like the rule in theory (too many helmets come off during the game for no apparent reason)

but I can see how certain teams will exploit it
