Apparently it has been accepted and Henry now owns the Globe

He's still on the payroll... but for how long? JH is really pissed over the Francona book, and that is just the tip of the iceberg.

Haha! In a "nutshell," no pun intended, Dan Shaughnessy nicknamed Carl Everett "Jurassic Carl," in a column, because Carl doesn't believe dinosaurs existed. The next day when Everett was asked about the nickname, he referred to Dan Shaughnessy as the "Curly-Haired Boyfriend" of fellow Globe beat writer Gordon Edes, because he hated him too. Curly-Haired Boyfriend was then shortened to CHB, which is Shaughnessy's nickname to this very day...

Anyone hear Shaughnessy being interviewed? I couldn't tell if he was too pleased with the sale or not.

Thank you, fellow Sox fans.

Never thought that highly of Shaughnessy's writing. He seemed allergic to original thinking. If he loses his job
it wouldn't bother me. Bob Ryan, on the other hand...

Ryan retired last year but has agreed to write 40 columns in 2013... but I don't think Henry sees Bob Ryan as a threat.

Ryan won't let personal biases affect his writing.

A huge percentage of what I know about basketball came from reading his stuff when
he was the Globe's Celtics beat writer. The man knows his baseball too,
though what I've seen of him on TV gives me the impression
that his social skills have room for improvement.

Those columns will definitely be worth reading, complimentary to Henry or not.
