I don't think the OP knows anything about Marcus Peters. That dude, while being a pretty good player, was also a royal headcase.

This isn't to say that the Redskins didn't completely botch the Alex Smith trade.

Nor is it to say that the skins front office is bright.

But that the Marcus Peters trade shouldn't be part of the equation - they simply didn't want to deal with his on AND off field antics anymore.

You couldnt be more wrong.

I know a lot about Peters in fact one of my best friends is a Chiefs fan and another one a Raiders fan and the 100s of texts a day in our group touches on all things Chiefs.

I also spent 30 days in KC for work last year during the heart of the season.

Peters hasnt been suspended by the NFL. He served a team imposed 1 game suspension for when he threw a ref flag into the stands at end of the game, assuming he was ejected, which is a fair assumption. He left the field before game ended but wasnt actually ejected. He came back to the field. Bonehead move without a doubt.

That was it in the NFL.

Marcus Peters
Defensive Rookie of the Year
2x Pro Bowler
1x 1st team all pro
1x 2nd team all pro
19 interceptions
6 forced fumbles
3 defensive TDs

Hes been in the league for 3 years.... hes still on his rookie contract.

Marcus Peters has some faults. Hes a hot head, he doesnt like to tackle, and he gambles a lot which leads to him getting beat but hes the best play making corner in the NFL.... and its not close.

The Chiefs traded him because:
1) They are up against the cap. Peters is going to want a huge contract which they may not be able to afford so unlike the Redskins with Kirk Cousins, they are getting value while they can before they lose him.
2) They found a suitable replacement in Kendall Fuller who is a young outstanding corner who may not be the play maker Peters is but he has higher character.
3) They hosed the Redskins badly. By bending over the Redskins as badly as they did they have the luxury to trade Peters for less value. Skins even that one out and more.

And of all the teams interested in Smith. The Skins were the only team offering a long term deal I read. Smith is a legit NFL starter so he's not coming uber-cheap, but even after having his best season of his career. He's still a 34 year old who's arguably bordering on journeyman territory going to a 3rd team in his career. He's been injured multiple times, season ending I believe, and he had an absolutely loaded supporting cast last year. Plain n simple we gave too much away imo with Fuller who's on the cusp of becoming a very good, possibly great CB himself. Particularly in light of all this supposed CB talent some posters say the Skins have.

Alex Smith

Really? In the last 5 seasons he has not missed more than one game (& who knows it could be like the past season where he was benched simply to either rest him or give some time to the backup in a meaningless game). Again - folks either don't check or misrepresent the facts on this site. It also again appears like several folks here are wishing for Smith to do bad. Please simply reserve judgement until we see what happens.

As for the OP - what are you waiting for - jump to that Eagles bandwagon now. You obviously don't like the Redskins at this time & you also believe that DC is a shithole (unlike the paradise known as Philadelphia - lol).

Great - this has nothing to do with the Smith trade but apparently you want to whine like a bitch about the Smith trade every freaking day. Fine - become a damn Eagles fan already.

Not to get off topic but I'd live in the KC area before I'd live in DC. KC is nice. DC not so much.

Landover Maryland is a real paradise lol

2007 IR for shoulder.
2008 IR for shoulder.

2010 injured shoulder and missed a little time.
2012 missed time with a concussion.

Other dude was technically correct.
Please understand there is a difference in expectation and judgement.

@SoCalWizFan,

In early Sept of 2008 Smith broke a bone in his shoulder and missed the entire season. 49ers say Smith has broken shoulder, out for year

In 2007 he was hurt in late Sept against Sea. He came back, played in 3 games and was shut down the rest of the season. He played 7 games in total in 2007. Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith has dealt with shoulder injuries before. I included this year as another one of Smith's season ending injury years.

I didn't say or imply that he was injury prone. sportsinjurypredictor says his possibility to be injured is low and generally speaking I'd agree with that. Alex Smith injury history and analysis

I did say he suffered 2 season ending injuries and I stand by that. I brought it up because I think it could've and should've, at least imo, been factored into the trade equation for the Redskins when dealing with Kansas City. All the factors I listed in the post you quoted should've been used by the Skins imo. Yet I have serious doubts if any were. They certainly didn't seem to be.
