These ratings are really meaningless, as the only even slightly meaningful comparisons are between the pairs of teams that have played one another (with the exceptions of Marshall, who has yet to play, and Hawaii, who has played two teams.) But the all too early TFS conference ratings following week 1 look like this:

HTML:
B1G DI-FBS 107.798 91.833 14
AAC DI-FBS 107.438 92.563 12
ACC DI-FBS 106.411 93.589 14
BigXII DI-FBS 104.725 95.275 10
MWC DI-FBS 103.035 96.306 12
Pac-12 DI-FBS 102.264 96.847 12
CUSA DI-FBS 101.808 90.500 13
MAC DI-FBS 100.563 99.438 12
SunBelt DI-FBS 100.364 99.636 11
SEC DI-FBS 100.054 99.946 14
FBS-Ind DI-FBS 99.938 100.063 4

Everyone will be thrilled I saw ESPin put something out the other day to try and prove how great the SEC was. They said it was the first time in history a conference beat 3 ranked non-conference opponents in the opening weekend. I guess they are trying to find a way to say "SEC SEC go watch our network SEC".

In fairness, it would incorrect to claim that the SEC doesn't have some top-flight teams . . But their chances at ending the season as the top-rated conference sure took a hit this week.

Wait, whoa whoa stop the presses.

Are you trying to imply that playing on network TV on a Sunday night when there is no NFL and no other CFB team playing garners better ratings? Does anyone in the industry know about this breaking news?

I do think ESPN is showing their SEC bias. The last time something like this happened to the B10 a few years ago, the headline on the main ESPN page was "The day the Big Ten died". Outside of Alabama, the SEC looked like garbage.

What does "the top rated conference" even mean? I thought it was only those of us in the SEC that played the conference pimping game?

But then I turn around and it seems like 1/3 of the threads on this general board are about how the SEC did as a conference, and few are started by a fan of an SEC school. Perhaps the shortcoming isn't an SEC thing, but those that are outside the SEC.

BS.

An unranked A&M team beat a top 20 team. if you consider that garbage then I guess you consider the Texas/ND game garbage as well, which would be more BS.

Yes, as I stated in other threads, Texas and ND are both garbage teams. I doubt either will finish the year with 10 wins. The same might be true of UCLA who, just like last year, started the season ranked and ended up with 5 losses.

Well at least we know where the brains of the big10 aren't.

Your beliefs are motivated by wishes, and not reality. Texas is not a good football team, and neither is UCLA.

Not true at all. Teams that let Texas score 50 on them are garbage.

My guess is they average about 38 ppg this season. ND will still finish the year ranked.

No to, at minimum, #2. No way ND makes it through that schedule ranked. And if Texas does average 38 ppg, it will be because of their schedule against teams with no defenses.

Perhaps not, but UCLA was thought high enough of to garner a 16 rating while ND had a 10. Neither Texas nor A&M were thought high enough of to get into the top 25. Both teams beat the "better" team.

And you consider those garbage games.

What I consider garbage is playing Hawaii and beating the snot out of their 4A equivalent team.

They play in the Big12, of course they have no defense.
