My man, you might have seen John Bond play (I only looked this up because I had no idea who he was) and he sure as hell was an LSU killer (4-0 career) but he did not play in 1984

John Bond College Stats | College Football at Sports-Reference.com
Doh! You are correct about the Bond Years! I mix some things up like that from time to time. I saw John Bond in 1983 when the Bulldogs won @ LSU, and I knew he was 4-0 against the Tigers. Just shifted the years in my mind. I was at the LSU @ Miss. State game, but my friends and I were hammered all weekend. :) That means, LSU doesn't even a legit excuse for losing @ Miss. State in 1984! lol. FWIW, LSU won @ Southern California, won @ Alabama (Birmingham) and tied @ Florida that year! They were just flat @ Miss. State.

Hey when you go to that many games you're absolutely bound to mix some up! I just had never even heard of the guy so I had to look it up!

4-0 is cool and all but since 2000 I think MSU has won twice. So yeah, MSU is just kind of there.

I never would have expected MSU to have a 4 year run against LSU, especially because those MSU teams weren't even that good it seems like

It was a different game back then. John Bond looked like an All-American against LSU!

He played his last game against LSU 9 years before I was born! I can't speak to the game then but INT > TD never looks good to me lol

Typical SEC QB back then. He could take off and run though. It just doesn't make any sense to judge players back then by today's standards. Tua would have scared all of the SEC coaches from 1980-1983 to death!

I don't know enough about the rest of the conferences to list them all but UVA is my ACC sleeper and who I expect Clemson to beat in Charlotte. All the press is talking about the new coaches in the Coastal but UVA has the second best QB in the ACC and an extremely underrated coach.

I think FSU is going to be much better in year two of Taggart but there's too much ahead of them in the Atlantic for them to be a contender this year. UVA is going to be the team that people say "Where did they come from?" when all along Bronco has been building a program.

LSU had some bad years man. When I was growing up I had season tickets to some miserable years. I was 6 when I got season tickets. Talking 3 win seasons and barely scraping by San Jose State type stuff. 80’s was a mixed bag, 90’s was awful.

Mendenhall is a hell of a coach.

Honestly the first season I remember was 99 when FSU won the natty and I was 7 years old. So I've really only known LSU as being good

Think we are the same age. I remember ‘98 and ‘99 because I went to every game. Now when I say I ‘remember’ I very vaguely remember us sucking.

Born in 92. My first game was the 99 championship game. Growing up in Illinois it wasn't easy to get to FSU games as a kid

‘92 as well. Don’t remember my first game, and my parents don’t either. Been to so many games and season ticket holder since ‘98. Barely can remember much back them. Only games I remember from those seasons was losing to Ole Miss and Duece McAllister ( fight broke out in front of us), and beating Arky in ‘99 with and interim coach to stop them from being SEC West Champs with only 3 total wins.

But the 2000s-present have been a pretty damn solid time for LSU. We got our season tickets to FSU in 2012 after I had graduated from high school and finished up playing baseball in college, kept them until I moved to Arizona in 2017.

Ironically, I went to both my first LSU and my first FSU game in 1977!

In 1977, I saw LSU beat Rice 77-0 @ Tiger Stadium, and I saw FSU beat Texas Tech in the Tangerine Bowl 40-17. I have also been to two FSU @ LSU games including the 1982 game that determined who would go to the Orange Bowl to play Nebraska.

I'm not a primary fan of either team, but I have a little Tiger and a little Seminole in my soul.

No doubt, for the majority of my life being an LSU fan hasn’t been a chore. Still remember in the ‘99 season before Saban came they were building the Eastern Upper deck and they would put out cardboard cutout fans while the construction was going.

My dad has had tickets for almost forever, he still talks about the game vs FSU when ‘It rained Oranges’ against FSU. Believe it was the 80’s. LSU beat FSU to go to the Orange Bowl so fans threw Oranges onto the field.

Yep! That was a fun night. My other favorite game @ Tiger Stadium was the 1983 win over Washington when they set the pre-expansion stadium record of 83,000+ in the 78,000 configuration.
