Going to keep saying it.

The only way for the committee to get the 4 best teams is to pick 8. They simply will not get it right picking 4.

Did either one win? I thought the qualifier was winning the division, not making it to the ccg. I don’t agree with an auto bid from a p5 winner in an 8 team playoff scenario either, just stating The hole in your logic.

Could it happen? Yes. Like 2012 Wisconsin at 7-5 winning the B1G. It is why they use the full season and not one game, because many divisions are cakewalks compared to others.

They got it right this year. Who got in that shouldn’t have been there?

Depends . . . best teams or most deserving.

Best teams . . . Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State/Oklahoma
Most Deserving . . . Alabama, Notre Dame, Clemson, Oklahoma

That's the problem . . . the criteria is a moving target. Put 8 in and you most certainly will get the best 4.

Not sure how Georgia with a 3 TD loss to LSU and OSU with a 4 TD loss to Purdue would be considered better teams than ND?

I can see the argument for Georgia because of their game with Bama, but two losses is never getting in over an undefeated P5 team.

I do agree with going to 6 or 8. Bowl games aren’t what they used to be and the best players are just sitting them out.

Do you think ND would have beaten Georgia or OSU?

Yes.

Georgia was a better team last year and ND almost beat them with Winbush at QB.

And they have the thing that gives OSU trouble. A front 4 that can pressure the QB, so yes, they could beat OSU.

I wouldn’t put what happened with Clemson as an indicator of the team. OSU lost 31-0 last time they played Clemson.

Right now — Bama and Clemson are on another level. Georgia will be there in a year or two with the way they’ve been recruiting, but those two teams are clear cut.

Clemson’s freshman QB looks like he could be the #1 pick in the NFL draft right now and he will be there two more years.

Bama has the most talent, by far, and they just add to that, year after year with #1 recruiting classes.

After those two — anyone could beat anyone on a given day in the top 10.

Georgia did not deserve a spot. Beat LSU and they get in even with a loss to Bama.

Well, this is awkward now. Still think your "eye test" holds up? Georgia, while still a great team, got whipped by 4 loss Texas. No team has a claim at a championship after getting dominated twice and choking another time. Ohio State almost performed a historic choke job against 4 loss Washington. That's not counting the fact that they were mediocre for 80% of the season, and their win in Michigan has lost all of its luster. The fact is, the idea of who is the "best" team is completely subjective and impossible to predict, since these teams usually have different styles, play completely different opponents, and typically don't play one another in the regular season. If you would have asked anyone yesterday, even Longhorn fans, who's the better team, virtually everyone would have said Georgia. They clearly were not. Throughout the season, many "experts" like Klatt pumped up Michigan, saying they were the team with the best chance to dethrone Bama. That clearly wasn't the case either. Without an 8 team playoff (I want autobids), you CAN'T predict the best team. All you can do is go with resume. Notre Dame won all of their games, averaging beating teams by 17. Ohio State almost got beat several times, and was decimated by Purdue. This year, the committee absolutely nailed it.

I did not mean to disrespect Georgia.
I have not seen them play this year.
I’m sure they would have faired better than ND and Oklahoma.

Huh? OU put up more yards and scored more points on Alabama than Georgia did.

Last year, UGA,OU and Bama were separated by 3 OT's and 9 points. That's getting it right!

and yes, because that happened years ago, that is EXACTLY what would've happened this year.......

:L
You do realize that he was talking to someone that was arguing what happened in 2014 is relevant to what might happen in 2018, right?

And the only way to pick the correct 8 is to have 16 teams ... And so on and so on.

The main purpose of 4 teams is to find #1 team and solve the BCS problem when 3 teams go undefeated or close scenarios with OK ST. getting left out. Unless a #5 or #6 team can make real claim at being #1, then it don’t really matter

I can’t say UGA or OSU is without a doubt better.

So the committee did the right thing with picking the best resume which was ND

oh yea. same team....

you must've missed the scUM, NW, and Washington games......

While I have no doubt that tOSU is better than ND, slow your roll, NW and Washington have one thing in common with tOSU and Purdue...they've all lost to 6-8 loss teams.
