This is very true and we only have to look back a few years to the 2009-10 season where both the Habs and Flyers made the playoffs with 88 points while the Flames were on the outside looking in with 90 points. Interesting to note that the Habs and Flyers met in the Eastern Conference final that year as well.

San Jose wins 7-0 last night to be a +1 goal diff on the season, making them the second team with more goals for than against. Before last night they were a -6 (for those of us bad at math) and the Kings were the only team that scored more than they allowed.
