The Cowboys drag their feet on giving Dez a big deal, because they are worried about this "mystery tape"......but they can give Hardy $11 million for next season?
Murray goes out and has an MVP type season at 26 years old, all the while being a model season and teammate, but he isn't just shown the door, the door is opened for him
I realize the Hardy deal is relatively risk free for Dallas. I think the team may have more balance between offense and defense next year, but JG's job is getting much tougher IMO

Each of these decisions were made independent of one another. As to how Garrett is feeling? Can't say for sure, but he sounded pretty damn strong on the subject of Greg Hardy when interviewed. Sounded like Garrett has a pretty good handle on the situation to me. I think Hardy will be on his best behavior this year -- there's too much money at stake for him in Free Agency next year.

The one that bothers me the most is not having Dez signed long term yet. Say what you want about his character concerns, but I feel pretty confident that those days are behind him. His play says he is worth it, and his work ethic is not in question. He's the right age for an extension, too.

Demarco Murray was something that had to be done. It's just business in the NFL. Philly is likely to regret that contract I believe.

Yeah, I'm not saying any of the moves were absolutely right or wrong, but I think when a HC stands in front of his players, moves like these can work to undermine him. You always stress putting the team before yourself, but these moves could push the players more to putting themselves before the team IMO . But I guess that's why he gets paid the big bucks

I don't think Dez not being signed yet has anything at all to do with the "tape" or that particular incident. I do think there are some concerns about the Cops being out to his house a bunch of times since he's been here and I think there are some concerns about his inability to control himself on the sidelines, but I think the BIGGEST reason is as simple as how much money he wants.

My main concern with garrett is that it took him forever to trust Murray, and when we finally committed to the run, and saw it was a path to success, they lose Murray. If we go to pass all day everyday again, I dont think it will end well. For anyone.

I kind of agree with you on this. I don't know if Garrett all of a sudden realized what I've been hoping for years - that (IMO) running the ball more and in the most important spots (red zone, short yardage, late in games) will actually be BETTER for this team. And it was. Offensively, defensively, for Romo and for just flat out winning games we were better because we were dedicated to the run more. I think he just kept doing what worked last year and because we ran so well and so consistently, he never got to the point where his sphincter started to tighten up and went to his panic pass mode because he was afraid to run. I wonder that if we don't have the same dominant run game as last year if we just resort back to what we did every other year and abandon the run as soon as things get tough or as soon as one run isn't successful...But, hopefully our new found dedication to the run is a long term thing. We shouldn't run as much as last year of course if it isn't working, just don't abandon it either...

I think you're probably right as to why they haven't paid him, I'm just not sure to what end. If Dez plays out this season, he won't accept less next year, so the Cowboys tag him again. Then what? Trade him? Let him walk like Murray? With the Money Suh just got when he hit FA, I'm guessing someone would pay Dez what he wants. I just don't remember many times when the price has actually gone down for the club when they wait till the last minute to sign the deal with a star. It certainly didn't with Romo. JMO

i think that the run scheme doesn't change from what we did last year except we will not see 1 go-to back (Murray) this coming season but we'll see running back by committee (McFadden, Williams & draft pick) getting around the same number of carries or more as we saw with Murray and an equal or larger amount of run yardage

I think Garrett has some legit concerns......not so much in personnel, but the loss of Callahan at OL coach.

They will sign Dez........but they are going to take their sweet time doing it. I believe Stephen really isn't interested in locking up that much salary cap on offense in Romo and Dez, along with Williams......and when it's time, Martin and Fredericks. You've got to even that money out on the DL as well. Going to be tricky going forward. Losing quality coaches will hurt more than players IMO.

Callahan isn't that big of a loss IMO. He was on the outs with Garrett going back two years ago. There were reports that the two had a pretty contentious relationship. The important thing is the O-line got the opportunity to learn from him and he will be leaving behind what many people believe to be a worthy successor.

I think he's the best OL coach in the game and hated to see him go
