Release the Kraken - Fuck the Canucks
Very ugly first half (again) with way too many sloppy turnovers, but Hop got them dialed up and they easily took care of business in the second half.
Horrible shooting and lazy D. Just not their night tonight. Was worried about ASU coming out pissed off after that embarrassment against WSU on Thur.
That first half was about as bad as I've seen them play since they were still under Romar. The D was late and uninspired and they just couldn't hit a shot. Kept taking 3 attempt after 3 attempt and none were even close. Some of it was just bad luck. There were so many shots that went in and came back out.Tough spot last night. ASU needed that game badly and UW played poorly. Got the split in the desert which is still nice and now have 4 of last 7 at home to finish off the season.

Young teams need a game like that now and then. They need to stay hungry and stay focused. They started off slow the last 3 games and found ways to pass sub par teams.
The Pac12 tournament will be here before you know it and the lead up to the dance. Hop for sure will be using this to turn the heat up.
With their win tonight the Huskies clinched at least a share of the Pac12 title with 4 games to go. ASU and OSU are both 4 games back with those 4 left to play. OSU and UW still have one game left between them with a home game on 3/6.
a win on the road against Cal next Thur would cement their title. They finish up @ Cal, @ Stan, OSU, and what should be another pounding of the ducks at home as the cake topper before the Pac12 tournament.
Entirely insane turnaround by Hop and his program.
Stumbling a bit to the end of the season with a loss at hapless Cal, and barely squeaked out a win against Stanford. Needed both ASU and OSU to lose to secure their solo hold on the championship so no real celebration there.
Two home games left against the oregon schools to close out and dial into the Pac tournament.
Hop has to find a way to get them dialed back into the killer defense they were playing by the time the tournament begins. Their offense isn't good enough alone to run through that slate.
Tough last couple of weeks but I'm still really excited about the trajectory of the program.
I had an awful read eye flight last week to Grand Cayman for my sister's wedding so I didn't catch the games but I've heard it hasn't been pretty.
Hopefully we still make the tournament.
Dawgs v ducks for the tallest midget trophy. Ducks really need the win to guarantee a spot given how many losses they have overall despite how well they have played lately. Why? Because going on a streak against the hapless and lackluster Pac teams likely doesn't mean a lot to those making the selections. A loss to the only team likely guaranteed at this point to be in might be enough to keep them out.
UW is in either way. And still sputtering way too much on offense for any kind of deep run.
They were again content in the first half to be lazy and take one meh 3 point try after another and not really even try to fight the defense to get down into the post and force the defense to make plays. You can't push a team into foul trouble being lazy like that.
Would like to see them be a lot more aggressive tonight. Body up inside and take the fouls early. I know they need their outside shooters to win, but play inside out and give them better looks. Sure, the ducks can play defense, but they too are utterly horrible on offense.
I watched every minute of their last meeting. There' no doubt the ducks play a pesky defense, but it was once again this trend of not playing very sound or aggressive enough in the first half that killed them. Same as most of their last 6 or so games. Started the same against Colorado yesterday. They take these major blocks of time where they don't pass enough and don't push to test the low post area and play inside out enough. There are spells where even on fast breaks they don't just spot up and shoot, but pull up and start passing around again. Not a big basketball guy and I didn't see the second game between the Ducks and Dawgs, but in the first game at Oregon it was obvious that the Huskies were really struggling against that full court press that the Ducks run.
