Most of us know that hockey players and fans are very superstitious. Football fans as well. So what rituals or superstitions do you have before or during a game.

Be honest or do not reply !!

My son's always bust my chops because I will NOT eat during a hockey or football game. My boy's kid me and say "Dad nothing you do here will effect the outcome of the game" This may be true but I don't care.

I smoke and MUST empty my ash tray between periods or at the end of the quarters. I also wear the same shirt (clean obviously) and yes, the same color underwear.

I turn off my cell phone and everyone in my fam knows better then to call me during a game.

Like I said BE HONEST and if you can't don't answer.

I am curious about this. I will not think less of any person with strange rituals.

Not for the regular season, but...

I wear the same jersey for every playoff game and do not wash it.

That's interesting.

And I normally pick a "theme" for the playoffs and post something on Facebook in accordance with that theme. The year we won the Cup was quotes from "Miracle". Last year was player themed...a video was posted for each game that was meant to inspire a player...such as this:

Bizz you sure you're a hockey fan? Nothing, wow !

J/K brother.

Not a single thing.

Ok.
There is one thing, for both hockey and football.
I make it a point to breathe before, during and after every game.

I do this religiously and without change or compromise.

Smoke between periods
Have to wear a jersey
Put up a shrine during the season of signed picks jerseys and game used equipment
Unless live I have to watch the game on my tv
Red and black m&m's are the only thing I will eat but only following a goal

As far as football I will not eat wings when the raiders play the bills

my superstitions change with the team's fate.
if I wear one jersey, and eat a certain dinner when they win an important game... then that's my ritual until they lose.
then we just see what works next, and stick with that for a while.

Molson Canadian is my game-day beer though. that doesn't change.

Not at a game: Dont be in the same room as I am watching the game.
Dont be in eye sight of me while I am watching the game.

At the game:Cheesesteak,Drink,Dipn dots. (Broke this the other night, we lose 5-2.)

I was a lot worse two seasons ago...

I don't have an every game thing, but my jerseys go through lucky and unlucky phases. I'll wear the same one until there's a loss, then switch until I find a lucky one again.

I don't do anything. I think it's silly to think that anything I do can have any effect on a hockey game being played (in San Jose's case) 1000 miles from where I live.

Not saying it's bad to be superstitious, I'm just not.

It depends on how the team is doing. Like last year durring the packers SB run, I watched the last 6 games (Final 2 of the regular season to make the playoffs and all 4 playoff games) on the same couch, in the same jersey, on the same TV, with the same people, and while I was posting on SportsHoopla. Durring the SB, I really wanted to go to a SB party, but I convinced myself to stay home. Also my roommate got a new TV but I made him wait to put it up until the Super bowl was over. It's a really nice TV too, HD and all while our old one was regular definition...

I've been known to wear the same things the next game after a win.

When the Senators went to the Finals, I ate more Hamburger Helper than any human before or since.

My fandom rituals are really not that extensive. Especially not compared to my playing ones. I could write a book with all those.

Watching games, I always try to wear the colors of the team I am rooting for (Today, I am wearing a blue and white rugby shirt for the occasion of the Colts getting slaughtered my saint Breezus.). I usually don't wear logos while watching the games, unless I am at the game.

This is one official that didn't have any superstitions. :humble:

Although, I did have some habits.

My Dad's still kicking himself for going to a party for the SB. I blame him and Mendenhall.
