Moore hasn't been able to hit RHP for most of his career. That's the main reason he's util rather than everyday. He's always been very solid defensively at 3B. He made a couple errors in his 70 total innings there so far this year, but he had 200+ innings at 3B and had zero errors.

I hope to fucking god that Williamson was brought up because Wilson straight up said "f you" to Dipoto and any other front office idiot who though playing Polanco at 3B was the right move rather than having a solid defensive 3B on the roster playing every day. That's Williamson. He's going to contend for Gold Gloves every year.

My how the turns have tabled. Everyone hated him last year.
Yes indeed. When you suck you deserved to get booed and criticized. This season maybe he worked on his game in the off-season and has produced. Needs to be in the lineup 4 or 5 days a week.

IMO the problem with getting Moore playing time is where though. He has proven he cannot be a starter. He should be playing in every game but starting him (unless a guy needs a rest) isn’t what his strength is. He is fine as a late inning pinch hitter, a platoon 1B/RF, a defensive replacement for Randy or a late inning pinch runner.

If he wasn’t atrocious at 3B earlier in the year Williamson would still be in Tacoma.
Williams has been mediocre at best at the plate with more ABs then Moore. At this point since our hitting sucks ass I'll take below avg play at 3B for better chances of hits and scoring chances.

RF. I'm getting tired of seeing Taveras at the plate.

Yeah I was massively wrong on his ability to play. We knew he didn’t have a great arm but I didn’t realize his arm was that bad

The otherwise disappointing Orioles come in riding a little 3-game win streak, but looks can be deceiving. It was a three-game sweep at home against the weak sister White Sox.

But, as (bad) luck would have it, the Orioles' staff ace is going against the Mariners' worst starter tonight. Maybe this will be the night that Kirby turns it around. He's due. Well, he's due to show he belongs in either the Mariners rotation, the Rainiers rotation, or the Mariners bullpen. If he fucks up this start, against this team, they can't keep Evans down in Tacoma for another turn through the rotation. Can they?

The whole rotation is kind of a mess right now with no real good solution. Kirby hasn’t shown the ability to go 6, Miller hasn’t shown the ability to go 6, Hancock is iffy especially if he is going to keep up this just throw his gas for 4 innings. I hate the whole idea of an opener but it actually makes sense IMO for the M’s to use Logan as an opener for one of those guys.

Kirby with the 11+ ERA making his 3rd start of the year tonight.

What happens to him and the rotation if he comes out with another dogshit performance?

He's still in the equivalent of early spring training.

They brought him up way too soon and I can't see him getting fully right while up here.

I don't have a high expectation for him tonight.

At best he starts missing inside the zone more than way off the plate, but that could be worse.

Yeah, i get it.

I'm a a bit on the fence about major leaguers with great stuff doing a bunch of rehab starts in the minors. You just don't see many MLB clubs do that with guys who've been pitching at the Major League level for as long as Kirby has. They've already proven they can dominate AAA hitters. Unless there's something wrong that a coach sees mechanically, the only way to get ready for pitching to MLB hitters is to pitch to MLB hitters. Going down to AAA isn't going to get them ready for all of the little things that separate AAA hitters from big league hitters.

But I think it also depends on the pitcher. Kriby is such a mental midget then maybe it would do him more good to go down and dominate AAA for awhile. But I think about a guy like Gilbert who's a lot more solid mentally. He wouldn't get a confidence boost from that if he struggled in his first couple starts back. He'd just be like "yeah, I know I can dominate minor leaguers but I need to get used to facing major league hitters again".

Again, if it's a mechanical issue, then of course they'd want to pull you out of the rotation and not necessarily have you pitch a bunch to AAA hitters, but do more work with coaches.

I think it's a much tougher call than the reductive ways that fans (including me) can put it. I certainly agree that if he's shit again tonight then something has to be done one way or the other. I guess we'll see.

So pressure now on Emmerson to pitch almost a perfect game tomorrow for any chance to get this series tied. Fucking great.

His issues have been purely mechanical though. You can't miss pitch after pitch more than a foot left or right of the zone and have that not be mechanical IMO.

Pitchers show up early every spring to get that stuff dialed in. It takes weeks for some to get right.

Kirby needed more time before facing ML batters.

Showed some improvement last night, but still isn't quite where you expect him to be.

I'll still blame 2 M's losses on them rushing him up too quickly.

Last nights loss was more about their pathetic batting and putrid bullpen.
