My point was that it's a day by day thing for us regular folk, so I'm guessing it's the same for athletes.

It's not a matter of being sent to the DL for a team like the M's. They're desperate. If he's feeling well, he'll be out there whenever the physios feel it's safe is what I'm guessing.

Guti is not a starter so I don't see him starting over Trumbo in LF... What should be done is Trumbo should be taking over 1B duties with No Mo riding the pine... If they want Trumbo's bat in there, put him at 1B... Guti isn't swinging a bad bat either, which is why he should be playing LF more often than he is... If Guti can only go every so often like you say, then shame on this org for handcuffing this team... He shouldn't be on the roster if he can only go x amount of games as a bench player...

1B will be Montero, Trumbo, Lomo, in that order for the next few weeks, I'm betting.

They'll play Guti as much as they can because they have no choice. When he's out, its most likely because he's not feeling well. He hasn't played enough for the past eon for it to be based on metrics against opposing pitchers.

Not sure how much simpler I can make it.
