True, accurate, and likely to happen. It almost looks like they are going to try go from the economic turmoil of the last couple years to the highest payroll in baseball in one season. Just absurd, Crawford and Beckett are going to haunt them for a couple years, and Gonzalez Hans't really played all that we'll since the enhanced drug testing............... I'm not saying, I'm just saying.
But taking on Beckett and Crawford (who might be out next year also) is odd. But this really helped the Red Sox for signings next year. I bet now there will be plenty of impending FA's not resigning now with the chance for a big pay day in Boston.
I wish I found the article but I heard Gonzalez was a cancer in the clubhouse in Boston? Mainly at Bobby Valentine, but do you blame him? I wouldn't want to play for that whack job.
Gonzalez is a legit upgrade, he is overpaid, but the Dodgers can afford to overpay, so that really doesn't matter.
Beckett can still pitch, but he is a number 4/5 starter at this point, but being paid like a #1. Again money doesn't matter to the Dodgers, so he is useful.
Where they lose the deal is the addition of Crawford's full salary. And the subsequent guaranteed playing time when healthy. When he is probably a 4th OF at this point. Also, they gave up some decent prospects for the luxury of spending money, which is also moronic.
