It would be nice if the NFL helped, but I don't see why they should be under any obligation to. Also have no idea why anyone would even think to ask such a question.

He's 77 for Christ sake... I get people get up there in age are likely someone's parent/uncle/aunt/relative etc. but at some point the expected age (at least now) to check out is around there. Can't live forever and it's detrimental for the species to do so (over-population, job saturation, disease, etc.).

That's too bad he has cancer which can be a painful way to go, but your body is telling you something at 77.

In short, no the NFL should not help. He's no longer employed by the NFL... and the NFL is very clear what you're signing up for when you play... hard hits and damage to your body. If you don't like that or the future prospect of that, don't play. Nobody put a gun to your head and said, "You play for the NFL or die." Tired of this bullshit.
