Ted Simmons was a really good player for a long time.

HOFer? Never once thought of him that way. Never a top 5 MVP finish. The only thing he ever led the league in was GIDP.

how the Fuck did Ted simmons make it and Munson did not??? if you are going to give it to a catcher, munson was the clear choice!!!

Simmons had a very good career, but most of it is because of longevity...

Ted Simmons is surprising to me. I thought his chance had come and gone. Good hitting catcher, probably overshadowed because a lot of his career was in the same league/time period as Johnny Bench, a gold glover with more power.

I think it's pretty deserved. one of the best hitting catchers of all-time.

and I'd say longevity for a catcher is pretty important.

i wouldn't mind him making it that much, if there wasn't a better catcher on the same ballot...

he is not a terrible choice, still better than last year...
