on the bright side, if we do sign him, and he starts to suck, at least he's a good backup.

The Bengals have already expressed concerns.... That's why they never picked up his option two seasons ago. They figured if they paid him, it would stunt his development. What's interesting is that with the lack of a market for right tackle, it would seem the prudent thing to do would be for Andre to sign another short deal, continue to perform at a high level and then go for another shot at a big payday after several years of high level performance and diminished concerns. This would also play into the Bengals hands. I'm sure they'd be happy to give him more money for less years if it alleviates concern about him becoming lazy.

You're an idiot. Both Dan and Crash expressed worries that he would start sucking after signing

I don't remember ever saying he would suck after being signed. I think I may have agreed with someone it is a possibility, but I want Andre back personally, but I do not want to break the bank incase the old Andre does show up.

For Gods sake Andre, just sign a decent deal, because no one is willing to give a RT top LT money, even if they are rated the best RT in football for one year, on a contract year.

What is starting to piss me off is the fact that Geno has not been mentioned about an extension. He is the big puzzle piece who eligible for an extension, and we have shit tons of cap space right now. Just F'n sign him already Mikey, and worry less next year when you have to try and sign one of Dunlop/Johnson, Green and Atkins. That spells disaster trying to give everyone a new contract in time to prevent another team from starting with a huge offer and them hitting the road before you even attempt an offer.

They should keep talking extension with Dunlop/Johnson right now, and get Geno locked up long term now, that way, come next year, they can devote all their attention to AJ Green.

We aren't signing Dunlap and Johnson. You might as well forget that.

Yep.... This is a Hall/Joseph scenario. We'll likely lock up one of them long term and let the other one walk. My money is on us locking up Johnson and watching Dunlap walk.

You do see the slash between my DE's right?

I said Dunlap/Johnson, which means either or, not both.

Dunlap/Johnson, Atkins and Green is how I worded it.

Calm down spanky, didn't say you said that, I was just making a statement. Sheesh people are quick to jump to an argument here.

They have previously expressed concerns, and you can't blame from doing so going forward - at least for this current extension. And I agree, the best option would be to sign him to a shorter contract for more money, but generally players are always looking to shore themselves up with big money on long deals.

End of the day, with no interest from other teams, the Bengals hold all the cards. And Smith has nobody to blame but himself. They can continue to lowball him until he caves or someone else makes an offer. So, until the Bengals have an opportunity to match someone else's offer - even if it means breaking the bank - and they don't, I have no issue.

Calm down? I wasn't upset, raising my tone of my text, or anything. I was just making a "statement" as you are obviously familiar with.

I was not even going to argue. I was just making sure that you were not correcting me, since I am the one that mentioned Dunlap and Johnson in the most recent post.

I assumed you were speaking to me since that was the case. If you were talking to me, you were obviously wrong in making your statement, because it sounds as if you assume I was wanting the Bengals to sign BOTH, or at least suggesting I meantion signing both players, which in this case, I did not.

If you were not talking to me, it might be best to quote the person you were speaking to in general. If you are making a basic statement for the board, and not responding to anyone in particular, your statement is completely out of LF, which means you appear to be arguing with yourself.

I was responding to your post about re-signing people, but only saying we weren't re-signing both.

How many days until the gratuitous Anthony Collins article?

I'd rather Collins start than pick a RT early. We have way to many other holes to deal with that.

Of course this was what was gonna happen. Couldn't have happened any other way. Now we'll waste the first rounder on a fucking tackle.

LOL @ us.

That's also probably why Marvin was such a little bitch about PFF. They don't want to offer Andre the highest contract for a RT so it's more convenient for them to act like he's not.

I think Tits will be gone within 2 weeks.

This is a great theory...

they need to accomplish their goal of spending less money than any other team, they can't do that if they sign smith. simple logic.
