like in the back of a VW
phillies didnt pick up oswalts option.....if the rangers can get him at a good price might be worth it if someone offers cj stupid money
Oswalt could have something left but he has had so many issues with his back the last couple seasons. Surgery might be the only solution for him.
looking at his September stats it appears that he still has something left in the tank. he made 6 starts, 41.0 IP, 38 hits his record was only 3-2 but he went 6.0 in 1 game 6.1 in another and the rest were 7 innings or more. i don't think he's the answer if CJ walks but if we keep CJ i might let Colby go and bring in Oswalt

So you're going to let the best postseason pitcher the Rangers have..... go?
I pick up Colby's option in a heartbeat.
Colby's post season abilities alone are worth picking up his option even if he is the #4 or #5 pitcher next season.
so you're willing to ignore his regular season short-comings including his giving up more homers this season than another starter in baseball
I might make the trade of Oswalt for Lewis, but the price would have to be right. And with this last season and his injuries, it might be.
and i agree but Oswalt made 6 starts in September and seemed to have recovered from his back issues. i would insist on medical exams prior to any contract. and i would only do it if we sign CJ or a compatible-level starter to replace CJ. with that and Derek, Alexi & Matt, we could look for an upgrade on Colby.
See my above post. If nothing else thought his option is reasonable enought it might be worth it just to have him as a trade piece.
I would feel more comfortable doing that than going after Darvish.
