was reading the link that was provided to us from nets. I read where it says our only dead money (as of now) for next year is the 1.4 mil from Spears. Is that true?

Yes 1.4M in "14" and 700,000 in "13"

That's the problem with just cutting every player we don't like. Yes we get rid of a player but we still have money count against the cap and we have to pay the player taking his place.

Exactly, but this is why I have said and will continue to say it all depends on how well we draft in the coming years; because if you draft a guy like lets say Crawford who will make about 750k in 2014 so that you can cut a guy like Rat who would save you about 1MM in 2014 if cut than you come out with 250k in 2014 extra because you have Crawford as a replacement in 2014, but now that Rat's contract wouldn't be on the books you have an additional 9.732MM extra in 2015 to spend (Rats 2015 cap figure) - about 850k (Crawfords 2015 cap figure) = about 8.750MM in extra money in 2015. So it all depends on how we draft and as I've said these next two to three drafts including this one better be spot on for us.

I agree the draft is important but I have always saw it as a crap shoot. A GM could hit on 6 of 7 picks 5 years in a row then turn around and tank the next drafts.

True, but there have just been some really bone head picks in the past, and those are the ones we must stay away from. Think about it the Bobby Carp pick was horrible and should not have been made, every pick in 2008 I believe was the year should not have been made, you know which draft I am talking about. These are the type of picks we need to get away from and start picking smart as we have been as of late.

I had hopes for Carpenter but I was pissed when Bill did Carps daddy a favor and took him in the 1st. I didn't hate carp as a Cowboy just hated using that pick on him.

I hated the pick and the player, was never on that train. Welp you win some and you loose some, but that draft was pretty much as bad as they come, Hatcher was the best player to come out of that draft and is the only one left from that draft class, after this season no one from the 2006 draft class will be on the roster. To break it down lets just look at the first two picks 1st round Bobby Carp, second round Anthony Fasano, and now lets look at the players that we could have had instead:

Instead of Carp:

1st Round picks after Carp we could have used

Antonio Cromartie
Tamba Hali
Manny Lawson
Davin Joseph
Johnathan Joseph
Santonio Holmes
Nick Mangold

2nd Round picks after Fasano we could have used

Jeremy Trueblood
MJD
