Would be shocked if he lasts until the 3rd round. I would have no issues taking this guy in round 2, if they don't make a move/take an OL in round 1.

He scored a 9.96 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 8 out of 1720 OG from 1987 to 2025.

It appears the Bengals are done with FA for now, and guard is not on their radar at this current time.

Well, there's no one left and those who are haven't signed are likely waiting to see what team needs are there after the draft...just like teams are now waiting to see what they can get.

I think this tells you that the Bengals will absolutely be targeting at least 1 IOL in the first 3 rounds. If they can get Trey across the finish line (or positive direction) then I could see them looking to double up at this position as well.

there's probably someone out there that will be a backup and isn't very good, but the bengals will pretend he's good for awhile.

Scherff is still out there, and I think he could start and be at least decent. As I said, though, at this point I think it's better for those guys to wait until after the draft - they'll see what's available, or when an injury hits early in camp. They'll have more leverage at that point. At this point, they have little leverage with the draft and camps still in front of teams.

I guess part of that is also what is Scherff is asking for. He made 16.5 million last year. I doubt the Bengals were even offering 10 million more less anything over.

F Katie Blackburn.... This Hendrickson shit is pure garbage. Katie out here saying that Trey should be happy with the crap contract they are offering him. Trey mentions the next day that they basically aren't communicating with him at all and want him to sign a contract that is basically full of escalators based on team performance. I agree with Trey - Why should he put his money on the line for a team that won't start an NFL guard this season? Why would I tie my money to wins and losses for a team that isn't serious about winning. Seriously, F Katie and that whole ownership group. Bunch of assholes and I wish more players would speak out before they are done playing.

Do we know what the details are that are being offered besides escalators? They could be offering him $28 million base plus team escalators. I agree with you, but I also air on the side of caution as I don't know what the base is they are offering. Definitely could be handled better in public forums though.

I think you guys trade him to the Lions the closer we get to draft night.

We know this - Trey was willing to sign a one year extension for a below market figure just two seasons ago. I don't think he has a track record of being unreasonable. It sounds like he has been asking for a multiyear commitment from the team so he has some security beyond one year. And you're right in that we don't know what has been offered - But I have a hunch that it isn't anywhere close to 28 million.

If I'm the Bengals, I offer him the deal that was just signed by the edge in Houston. If he doesn't want it, I'd leak that I offered that exact same deal. The front office behaves as if public perception does not matter..... In many ways I would say they are smart to run their team with that attitude. But these negotations are becoming publicly visible at the same time that the franchise is asking for a major investment from Hamilton County to create a new lease and secure their future on the Ohio River. This is not a good look at a time when you are holding out your hand for tax dollars and I think they need to be wise about the court of public opinion.

I have no issue with the club trading him. But, the value has to be there because we need to rebuild the defense. At this point I just don't see how trading him helps over the next 2 seasons which are 2 key seasons in Burrow's prime. If the Bengals would have signed the two receivers before the start of free agency and traded Trey, they could have used the freed up money to be a bigger player in FA to help their offensive line or defensive line and then planned for the draft. This path would have led to some promise for the next 2 years....But it's too late now.

IMO - I don't think he gets traded.

That being said - a 2nd and a 3rd this year would do it for me.

IF you then decide to move back in round 1 and pick up another 2nd...you end up with:

1st, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd.

There is a TON of DL depth in this draft. If you don't get a high end guy at 17, and move back and pick up another 2nd...that is a lot of draft capital that this team needs. You could then, in theory:

R1 - IOL - Banks, Texas
R2 - LB - Knight, SC
R2 - DE - Sawyer, OSU
R2 - DT - Turner, A&M
R3 - IOL - Savaiinaea, Arizona
R3 - You can go a lot of ways now, here...You can find a S or another WR (Tre Harris Ole Miss would be a nice outside backup WR at 6'3-6'4 or Tez Johnson would give you an immediate slot WR over Jones, or you could go CB...

If you don't trade back, you can still land:

R1 - DE - Pearce, Tenn
R2 - LB - Knight, SC
R2 - IOL - Ratledge
R3 - IOL - Savaiinaea, Arizona
R3 - DT, S, CB...same as above.

While it would hurt to lose Trey - there could be a lot of good by going out and getting 2-3+ extra picks in a draft that is at least deep with guys that would raise the floor, if not the ceiling, along the DL.
