The new qualifying format is really puzzling. What was the reasoning behind it? The old format could be quite exciting with several drivers on a hot lap as time expires.

The goal was to stop guys from going out, throwing down a fast one and sitting in the pits until the end and going out to throw down another one. What they missed was that it created a situation where they went out and threw down one fast one and then left themselves without enough time to do another to advance.

F1 Management has some real issues on their hands. A lot of incredibly respected voices complaining about the way things are, and with them going back to something that completely failed...

Examples:
DC

Seb and JB
Jenson Button and Sebastian Vettel sign letter calling for F1 change

Gene Haas is telling the truth and like I stated in another thread, he has told the powers at be and the Euro elites to STHU and get out of the way. That's what I'm talking about!! The article is short and to the point with lots of quotes. A good quick read.

Bernie Ecclestone: Women drivers in F1 would not be taken seriously

Yeah, Bernie. We want more totally qualified men like Haryanto, Maldonado and Chilton on that grid.

Susie Wolff, Simona DiSilvestro and Kathryn Legge can all drive circles around the bottom half of the grid. Maybe they can't win, but realistically no one driving something other than a Merc or Ferrari can.

He's got an awful big mouth after only three races. Brawn won a championship in their purpose built car their first year. That car was so incredible that Mercedes bought it to build the foundation of the current Silver Arrows. Red bull strung off championships starting in year 4. They built that thing 100%.

The only part Haas has developed themselves, the front wing, is what their driver blames for the poor showing last week. Maybe he needs to shut up and deliver a little bit first. He comes off as a bravado filled and whiney at the same time. All hat, no cattle.

Could be 43 but he's figuring things out faster than most and he is exposing F-1 for the drama queens that they apparently are with all of this gyrations by Bernie on the fly.

Not disagreeing about exposing the drama, but it seems like Bernie is making life difficult for himself just fine on his own.

I think rear ending Vettel once was OK but then doing it again 2 times in the next race but not getting a podium finish told the tale..

That was a stupid move. Kyvat is a young talent that has made some mistakes but so what. Whoever is signing the checks is going to regret that move.

I don't think Kvyat is totally at fault for Russia. The first contact was a melee and it kind of looked to me like Vettel checked up or had wheelspin. I don't think Kvyat intended to hit him the second time. He just ran out of room. It just looked extra bad because of the race before and Seb's hissy fit.

The more I think about it, the crazier the move seems to me. For one, Kvyat is very consistent. So what if, at the end of the season, he outperforms max's results (on average) in the STR? How will Red Bull justify it?

Plus, no doubt Max has talent, but he's got more balls than brains. And in the STR, his brain farts took out Force India, Mclaren and Sauber. How is it going to look when he is plowing into MAMG, Ferrari and Williams?

That dude that went 20 feet into the air just barely escaped landing on his head as the car landed on its side. The energy-dissipating systems built into these cars sure helped a bunch.

I remember watching Stallone's Drivel and seeing a car fly and snickering.

Aside from those flying Benz's at Le Mans a few years back (1999??) I've never seen a car go that high up.

Boy oh boy, things are really heating up at Mercedes.

Seems Lauda has been speaking out of class about things.

Lewis has been trashing his ready room, Wolff seems to have read the riot act, no team orders but.....

If they drop team orders in it will be ludicrous. They are each other's only real competition.

If they have to hold station at a certain point in a race, how does it work in the final race if a win either way yields a title? That would be ridiculous.

I preferred the "animosity" that existed between Weber and Vettel to the nice-nice screwing Ferrari used to give an Irvine or Barrichello to "protect" Schumi.

This current battle could well make me forget Prost-Senna.
