His cap hit was 6.3 but if you add in his 2mill bonus its around 8mil.

His $6.3m deal doesn't kick in until this upcoming season.
so his cap hit last year was about $2.8 million, before the $1.3 mill Conn Smythe bonus

I know but I was taking last years stats and applying them to this season. The bonus doesnt count against the cap for last season it goes against this seasons cap hit and this season is 6.3, so essentially his cap hit this season 7.6(thought the bonus was 2mil) and if he puts up 25 goals and 68 points under an 7.6 mil cap hit then his contract would only be a litte bit better than Drury's.

If his bonus was only 1.3 does that mean that Kanes bonus was 2.7? Because I thought they had a 4mil bonus hit on this seasons cap?

Either way, my fault for merging last years stats into this years cap...but I only meant to imply that I wouldnt be very impressed if he has a similar season.

no prob. i understand.
yes, last year's bonus number affects this year's team cap, so I can see what you are getting at.

Toews' player bonuses were $2.15 mill. His bonus was $1.3m for winning the Conn Smythe.

I think they're on the outside looking in as it is. Toews put up 68 points last year, maybe its just me but I dont find that very impressive when your cap hit ended up being around 8mil. I know the "core" is still together but just about every other team in the west also has their core together, and their role players to go along with it.

I think Toews has a big year. I see 85-90 points, we are gonna see his ice time increase and he is only 22 so I doubht we seen all he has to offer. HE is one of those players who seems to give his club exactly what they need at any given moment. I would take Toews over Kane if you made me pick.
