It would certainly take more than a down to the wire win over a very average Georgia team to make up for those 4 blowout losses of the 2013 season.

Tbh, I was stoked about the Huskers after 2010 when we lost to Texas by .01 and went on to destroy Arizona in the Holiday bowl with a shut out. I seriously though we were a NC contending team, especially moving to the B1G....then Suh left and the wheels started falling off.

One of the easiest scheudules in recent memory- 4 losses. Hail mary away from 5. 2 last minute comebacks vs mediocre teams away from 7.

It will take more than a win vs a bad Georgia team to shine the turd that is the 2013 season.

2010 was the last time the media thought and last time we were a serious national title threat.

Georgia is not a bad team......that is absurd.

Their backup QB is a real talent and their RB is a top notch NFL player. I know they had injuries, but they are still loaded with 4 and 5 star athletes.

By far the best win we've had in the past 2 seasons......maybe best win since 2010.

Both Nebraska and Georgia had to replace a ton on Defense. Nobody can really make a case that we should have had an advantage there.

On Offense we are deeper at the skill positions......especially WR......but we both had inexperienced QBs starting and beastly RBs.

I thought we played really well and actually thought Georgia played better than I expected them to. There was no lack of motivation on either side.

Disagree,
Georgia played like we played the year we met Washington for the second time in the Holiday Bowl. Injuries and lost Qbs be damned. Wshington wanted that win worse than we did (I believe they were 6-6 going in to the bowl). Georgia beat two bowl bound teams this year injuries or not, they just weren't motivated for a rerun with the same bowl opponent. Improved defense not withstanding, we didn't beat a quality team all year.

Georgia players were out there picking fights and pumping each other up......

I don't buy it. The year we played Washington our players were cocky and thought they were gonna destroy them again.

Also, the look on the Georgia players' faces after the dropped pass to end the game told the story. They were upset. Couple players were in tears.

to the OP - I'm just happy we won and don't have to think about a crappy bowl loss for the next 7 months. However I wouldn't call it energized or excited for the future. I did like that we didn't turn the ball over 2+ times in some sloppy conditions. The one TO was a poor pass (incorrect read?) by an inexperienced QB.

Richt played a big part in not giving Georgia a chance to win at the end.

Instead of kicking a high percentage FG with 4:30 remaining and getting within 2 points, he opted to go for it on 4th down.

Had they successfully kicked that FG and trailed by only 2, they'd had another opportunity with :30 remaining to take a 1 point lead on another FG.

Of course Bo might have called a different defense on that last Georgia possession knowing Georgia only needed a FG to win as opposed to a TD.

Having already kicked 4, Richt must been tired of kicking FG's :dhd:

I imagine 6 total would have been some kind of record.

It was classic Bo 'Bend but don't break' defense all day.

eh, read an article where Richt talked about that scenario. he played field position, they were inside the 20, if he kicks it and then kicks off NU gets it at least at the 25, if not further (Georgia had pretty bad kickoff coverage most of the year, if i remember right). No guarantee NU can't run out the clock with only 4 minutes to play (although I guess with our lack of 1st downs in the game he probably should have thought harder). Plus better starting field position for NU might have meant worse starting field position for Georgia's last drive which was at the Georgia 38 with what he did.

I thought Beck made a very poor decision to pass on 3rd and 4 on that drive. Didn't get a first and stopped the clock. I would have let Ameer try to get 4 yards and kept the clock moving.

I was shocked he didn't kick the field goal.

I can guarantee you if I was coaching in that situation, I wouldn't have even thought twice about it. Offensively we had hit a stop sign at that point.

Richt and staff obviously weren't paying attention to part of the game. Nebraska wasn't sustaining any drives and chances were pretty good they'd go 3 and out.

Nebraska was 4-13 on 3rd down
Georgia led the passing game 320 - 163 yds (NU was only 6 for 16)
Nebraska only average 3.3 YPC rushing.

Nothing about that suggests a high probability that NU could burn 4:30 off the clock.

And IMO that's exactly what Georgia was doing this time around. Too cocky and not fired up. Hell, look at both of 'Bamas two Sugar Bowl games same thing----they just didn't want to be there/thought they were above either opponent and lost both games. Same with Ohio State this year. Georgia was in that same boat

Richt's not an elite coach. I LMAO when I see Nebraska fans who want him as HC.

Richt has had Alabama-type recruiting classes for the past 5 years.....

And he has what to show for it?
