Seattle and SF seemed to be the consensus picks in the NFC during the preseason. A quarter of the way through the regular season, however, I'm not so sure that the Saints shouldn't be considered the team to beat in that conference. Everyone knew what a potent offense they had, but their defense has been surprisingly good. Things can obviously change quickly (see, for example, the Colts win in SF), but right now, where does NO stand in your NFC rankings?

I would rate them second to Seattle at the moment but it's almost closer to a 1A than a 2.

They get to play each other on December 2. That should be a good one.

Yeah I would put Seattle at 1A and New Orleans at 1B at this time. Both have had some close games and some blow out wins so really at this point it is just from week to week who you prefer. New Orleans though is only one of a handful of teams that I would say has the weapons to give that Seattle defense fits so it would definitely be a fun game to watch. Honestly I think it would come down to where they played of who would win.

Agreed. I just looked it up and that game is in Seattle. Both of these teams to have even more of a home field advantage than most teams, so that figures to be relevant.

1 , 2 , 1a, 1b whatever it doesn't matter.

I know alot of people are dinging seattle for not winning pretty ala peyton and the broncos. But consider Houston would beat Philly by 4 tds too and Also consider the fact that Seattle was without 3 offensive lineman (2 probowlers) vs one of if not the best d lines in the game

Agreed that that is likely an important factor.

Not sure that Houston could beat Philly by 4 TDs.

Matt Schaub would give at least two of them back.

Not so sure about that. Dating back to the last month of last season, I'm not sure that Houston would beat any team by 4 TDs.

You really think Houston would win by 4 touchdowns? Hmmm interesting. I didn't ding Seattle for almost losing to Houston even though they probably should have. I ding Seattle a little for the fact that on the road this year they have really struggled. Every team no matter who you are in the playoffs will have to go on the road and win (Superbowl is at a neutral site so no homefield advantage). Right now I just don't know if Seattle is the team to do that. I would trust NO more on the road than I would Seattle so that raises NO up a little for me. Again this whole thing though for me boils down to who is at home would 9 out of 10 times win the game between these two.

I guess it is no longer a lock that we will see a Seattle/San Fran NFC title game?

No. The way the Saints play plays right into the Seahawks hands. The Seahawks are really the only team that could shut down the Saints offense. With that secondary, the Saints won't be able to push the ball down the field like they want, and they'll have to run, something they don't like to do.

I would say the gap between those teams and the rest of the NFC is closing quickly. That is not a shot at San Fran or Seattle it is just that the NFC has quite a few good teams that on any given Sunday could cause problems for both of those teams. I would say Green Bay, Chicago, and Detroit all could beat either of those teams and I still think Atlanta can right the ship at some point this season. The NFC East I just don't see any of them standing a chance but hey it is a long season. The NFC definitely will be a fun one to watch this year of who ends up on top.

That might be true to some extent, but I doubt it's entirely true. I think that Sproles, Graham, and Colston present matchup problems for any defense.

Denver I think is clearly the #1 in the league. I would put NO #1 because we all know their offense is elite and we all know that Seattles defense is elite, so the question is in a match up between Seattles offense and NO defense who would win out and right now I think that NO defense would shut them down. So ultimately NO is the better overall team.

Sproles would be the one I would think the Seahawks would have trouble with. The Seahawks can put Chancellor or Browner on Graham and Sherman on Colston.

NO offense is tricky because they have 5 guys who can go out there and no one would argue your putting Sherman on them. With the speed they have and how good Brees is he may not be able to bomb it down the field but he will be able to find those slight openings and exploit them.

NO has a very difficult schedule and the head to head game on Dec 2nd heavily favors Seattle. Not only is it in the CLink, it is the Monday night game, which has been shown to benefit the West Coast team over an East Coast team.

What diversity you have overcome... I think Seattle is the only team with any injuries in the NFL...

Interesting. Aside from the normal HFA, I don't know why that would be. Also, unless I'm way off on my geography, NO isn't exactly an East Coast Team.

No surprise considering your thoughts in other threads.

Seattle has beat SF and Houston,

They have won 2 ten am games.

They are without Harvin, They are without their probowl LT and Center.

They are still 4-0.....

I could care less about power rankings.

All i know is Seattle is in the drivers seat for HFA (play no IN seattle)

Has Denver looked prettier? sure, but Seattle has better wins, and let's see how pretty denvers offense is come winter.....
