Has anyone here ever personally gone to a Superbowl before?

No. Just no. As always, pumpkinhead is wrong.

If you're gonna go, go. It will be expensive. But if you enjoy it, it's worth it. Save money on your next vacation closer to home.

At least stay somewhere well located even if it's a cheaper hotel. There's a couple places on Varick near the Hudson Tunnel entrance (I think a Marriott Courtyard and the equivalent from Hilton?). That's good because you'll be walking distance to SoHo or the Village (best places for restaurants/nightlife) and close to the tunnel and PATH station for a cab/train to the game.

I guess you missed the part about him trying to limit his expenses. Idiot.

My concern about expenses is more about the ticket price. I probably wouldn't be there for more than 2 or 3 nights so the hotel price is not the biggest concern.

Obviously it would be. I'm saying in general terms any city on the east coast is as far away as it gets.

The thing is, Miami, Tampa and Jacksonville combined brings basically a 50% chance of a Super Bowl being hosted in Florida.

Really sucks that the year the Seahawks have a serious shot at a Superbowl, it has to be in the most expensive area possible. Not to mention as far away from Seattle as you can get.

ya where is Glendale when you need it. Considering it is a pretty inexpensive destination for a trip of that magnitude.

2013 season:
New York City

2014 season:
Glendale

2015 season:
San Francisco

2016 season:
Houston

2017 season:
1 of these 3:
Minneapolis
Indianapolis
New Orleans

The earliest the Superbowl will return to Florida is the 2018 season. So no 50% chance lol.

Then it is probably those 3 in a row. They are adding some new places of late like NY, SF, Houston, etc. so you are right, it is not as high of a rate as it used to be.

Its cheaper this year for flights and hotels than other years because there is 10x - 20x the hôtel competetion than when its held in smaller cities and there are several of the most high traffic airports on the eastern seaboard. If the game was in NO, flights would be $750+ from Seattle. Right now you can get tickets from Seattle for $350

The game tickets will be more than normal so it will probably end up a push, but i see flight and hôtel packages in Newark starting at $650 for 3 days. Now if you need to stay right by the stadium, thats a different. But that would be dumb, its an easy train ride from all sorts of áreas.

That being said, i wouldnt go. I want to be in my home town if my home team wins a sb.

I went to 3 but unfortuantely 3 Buffalo games 1990,91,and 92 the only competive game was vs Giants. Good to see LT,Pepper Johnson and Carl Banks. Scott Norwood shanked thaf FG and NY won. Fat tuna was jumping up and down and almost crushed Belichick. Face value was $150 each and someone offered $2500 for the pair and passed.because didnt know if I would go again. That was the year of the Gulf War so security was tight and took 2 hrs to get in. Next year in Minny and I froze my balls off except fro the game. Redskins with Riggens and Art Monk ripped the Bills

On a another note when The Pats used to practice at Bryant College in Smitfhield right around corner we I worked, they would come in often. Only cocky one was Ty Law. A guy in a Seville asks for directions to get on interstate, i turn around and it was Pete Carroll

Closest thing I've been to that remotely resembles a Super Bowl was the 2005 Orange Bowl. (National Championship) Where USC took Oklahoma to the woodshed!

I went to Superbowl 38 in Houston. I bought the ticket on Friday from a fan who needed to sell it in the next couple hours (he had to catch his flight) I paid $900 for the ticket and got a flight and car from "lastminutedealsDOTcom for under $300 from Charlotte. Hotels were $400 or better but I called all the fleabag hotels along the exits from San Antonio to Houston. They averaged $50. When I got to about 25 miles from Houston, the price went to $300. I turned around and went back to the last exit. Got a room for $50 next to a Sonic (came in handy because I would not buy any food at the stadium.
My total cost? About $1350 with beer and souveniers.

Wearing a Patriots Superbowl Champions T-shirt on the flight back to Charlotte? Priceless!

I'm in Okinawa now but thanks to MLK, I'll have Monday off to watch the game at 8:00 AM

My brother and I drove from Denver to San Diego to see the Broncos play the Packers in SB32. We took his van and $2,000 with no hotel reservations and no tickets. Spent first night in van, got rousted by CHP at 6 am day of game. Managed to buy 2 tickets with partially obstructed view near at the Murph for $500 each. Had to drive North to almost Newport Beach to find a hotel with vacancy after game, slept 6 hours then drove back to Denver.

Best time of my life.
