Again so many conflicting reports on this. In the age of social media, its more important to be first and heard then it is to be correct.

I honestly have no idea, I don't think anyone does, lets just wait and see

field gulls has a fantastic article on this.

Guessing he missess half of the season with a 91% chance that he comes back 100%

The only other likely option is that he just really wants to miss some training camp.

Welcome back Phil. Give us a link.

Well at least this is happening now. I couldn't imagine what kind of shape we'd be in if we ran a playbook that relied heavily around him for the entire preseason and found out going into week 1. I thought the pass rush was a bigger problem than the WR, so hopefully the coaching change/new faces fixes that issue.

I agree with those who are saying that, as much as this sucks, it's not a huge blow in the sense that we can still run the same offense that we ran last year without Harvin if we have to and we all know what that looked like. This hopefully won't extend beyond the preseason, but if it does, we're not in big trouble without him. It just would have been really fun to see him in this offense and it will be when he does get back.

Percy out...Zunino out...wtf did we do to the sports gods this week!

And this is probably flying under the radar too but Zach Miller on pup could be a big concern cause we have no depth at TE...

We didn't have Harvin last year and we didn't trade any players for him, just a few draft picks(Most have already been used, so... If Harvin is down, next man up to prove himself worthy.

Miller played on the foot last year did he not? Seems to me that holding him out is probably a precaution because of his age but when the season starts he will play.

I think it's a case of "camp hip" with Percy.

As disappointing as that may be, if he's available on Sundays I dont give a shit.

Isn't Miller like 29?

I will just wait to get an official word before I start freaking out over some tweets. I think we are all on the same page about that. Hope for the best but we were a dominant team without him too.

PUP, NFI primarily a CYA device for NFL teams | ProFootballTalk

This is why you're seeing so many guys that are fine wind up on the PUP/NFI list so just because they are on the list doesn't mean there is something seriously wrong with them.

In Harvin's case though since he's going for a second opinion that means that there is something there and they are going to a specialist to see much is there and if he'll need to fix it or if he can play through it.

We all knew this was a risk/reward type move considering his injury history. Even with this setback, I still think it was a great moving trading for Harvin and I believe this will payoff in the long run. Here's to a speedy recovery!

:agree:

When I saw the deal, I really thought it's a 2 year deal, maybe 3. We have no real cap issues until
2015 and then 2016. Why would we give up a 1st and 3rd for a 2 - 3 yr deal? Sounds fishy?

PC/JS believe he's a missing link to a SB Victory, so it's a sacrifice but not a huge sacrifice with the
talent on the squad. You roll the dice to win now, win now and win now. The Hawks have a huge
window but why not fly through in 2013. We still can with the current squad.

Why do opposing fans always talk about 6 yrs / $67mm? This is NOT baseball. We should ONLY talk about the guarantees which = 2 years. :gaah:

I don't think Big Red lasts, Maybe not even Mebane as crazy as that sounds. Rice is a $$ reduction
or don't let the door hit ya' on the way out. Zach is a ? because his salary drops significantly in 2014.

We won't see Harvin more than 3 years with that contract. Time will tell.

I think it's a good way to look at it that it's 2-3 years. But in those 2-3 years they have Browner, Wilson, Thomas, Tate, Rice all to sign. Also when you give up a 1st and 3rd rounder -- it's not just those picks you're giving up, but with the collective bargaining agreement you're giving up the opportunity to have young cheap talent for a while. Obviously if Harvin gets them a SuperBowl it will all be worth it, but I think there's an argument to be made they could have gotten there without him so they didn't need to give up their cap space and draft picks to get him.

I obviously would never wish injury on anyone but as a Vikes fan... I would bet it's nothing more than he doesn't wanna do camp, he's not as injury prone as people seem to think.

We hope your right. Hate the idea of a player not wanting to mesh in camp, but it beats the alternative.

Actually I believe Nosferatu is correct. We would all be in Denial if we thought that Percy's character has never shown his lack of wanting to practice or participate in some game situation's. Personally I some what am not Doubting that he won't be ready opening day!!!

Sportscenter just reported that Harvins left with the choice of playing through injury or having surgery and be available for the last quarter of the season.. Any predictions on his choice? Also what would u rather Harvin do? Tough choice either way.

Since he just got paid, I'm guessing he opts for the surgery. And that would be the smart move IMO: both for him and for the Seahawks long-term.

This gives me the choice: barfing my guts out or crying my eyes out....then tomorrow I'll wake up remembering that we still have an excellent lineup.
