I'm totally hoping that OV and JT evenly split votes. Essentially anyone that believes that Crosby just didn't play enough games votes for one of them. If they believe that Crosby did, I think it goes to Sid.

Getzlaf got overlooked in all of this (understandly so as he does play on the west coast and half the sportswriters haven't seen him play this year). If you look at his stats, he had a very impressive season in all facets of the game.

I think you're risking brining out the haters by putting this out there.

No way Getzy would ever get considered by anyone who doesn't live in the PT time zone.

I'd like to see Tavares win it. I think he's deserving. I just don't think it's going to happen. If Sid hadn't missed a bunch of games due to injury he would be the run away winner. He still might take it, but Ovi led the league in goals & played great down the stretch leading his team to a division title. I expect Alex Ovechkin to win the Hart & it's deserved.

I think the compressed schedule (no inter-conference play) played a big factor in that all three finalists come from the Eastern Conference. The Eastern-based writers just didn't see enough of the guys playing out west.

pretty small sample size as i was only in SF for a year, but based on that year and that location, there's a reason there's an east coast bias. i've never been in an area that had fewer sports fans.

St. Louis & Stamkos finished 1st & 3rd in the scoring race & their team FAILED to make the playoffs. Sorry, but making the playoffs are a must. Yzerman needs to focus on puttiing a better TEAM on the ice. Bishop better be the answer because Conacher is kicking butt.

I definitely agree with this,that's why I said I would have "liked" for St.Louis.All that talent,and nothing to show for it.

i just don't get how Chicago had this magical season, were the darlings of the league with their streak, and yet apparently they had a team full of passengers and no standouts that they aren't getting nods for any of the awards.

but, i guess such is life for the western conference

and that becomes a measure for determining who is deserving of a nomination as MVP of a team?

heck, if a player comes from a team that only gets 200 people a night to show up at their building, but is one of the best players in the league, he should get recognition. it shouldn't be "oh well, no one in that area cares about sports so there's no need for him to get recognition"

Crosby wasn't there at the end of the season, and Ovechkin wasn't at the beginning of the season. Getzlaf and Toews should have been in over those two.

But the same could be said for Toews, at least I think, and Datsyuk.

But for the three that are in I would like to see Tavares win but I bet AO will get it.

no worries at all, i could absolutely see how it would be annoying. and people that say it doesn't exist would be even more annoying. whether it's a publicity based thing or the fact that east writers sleep during west games and not vice-versa, it definitely exists.
