More dollars paid off in a shorter amount of time would have been a discount?

I hope your wife handles your finances.

You lose some money but you'll be making top dollar when you're creeping up on 40. To me that is better than becoming a FA again at 36.

You lose average annual salary but you're making more in your late thirties than you otherwise would becoming a free agent after a 10 year deal.

What I meant by discount is more team friendly. Obviously it's better for a team not to pay a 38 year old 25 million.
