Well you need to start 4, but with the NFL today nickel corner is kind of a starter so that really makes it 5. And that ignores injury, etc. Right now we have Scandrick coming of an ACL, Carr likely to be cut and a second year guy in Jones that needs to get a lot better. So I'd say we NEED to add 2 CB/S's, but should be adding at least 3 this offseason.
I agree DB is a major need for this team, bigger than DL, and the DL talent is deeper this draft. Those are the reasons I won't be upset going DB. I'm not hard set on Buckner, I just think he's gonna be a beast at the next level.

I like Buckner too. I think he is one a dozen guys we might end up with. Heck, I know many are going to give me a "what the fuck" for this, but I wouldn't be surprised if Spence ends up the best defensive player in this draft and I know many don't even have him in the first round.

impact player...hardly matters where he plays and I don't follow you when asking what about jones???

well we have Carr and Scandrick pretty well locked at the 2 CB positions and i expect that Ramsey would be the starting FS so where do we put Jones SS?

First off Carr likely is cut. Second you draft for the next 10 years, not this year. But the point is they all get on the field and will get time to contribute. If Ramsey is drafted and can't beat out Carr or Jones the evaluation of the player was the mistake, not the drafting of a CB that you view similar to Jones. If we end up with Scandrick and someone else at Corner and Jones and Ramsey are the two next best players they'll both start at safety and one will cover on the outside for Scandrick in the nickel when he moves into the slot.

But, that probably isn't going to happen. IMO if you take Ramsey it is with the intention of him starting at CB Day 1 and for the foreseeable future.

nice problem to have and I don't think anything is "locked"

now me? Jones plays corner and Ramsey plays a safety position.

I'll say it again....Impact is my expectation for Ramsey

I think if we end up with 4 or 5 good players playing in the secondary this year it will be a good thing regardless of what position we label them with. The Giants a few years back were playing 3 safeties in the nickel for no reason other than they were just better than the other guys on the team. So yes, having a lot of talent in the secondary would be a very nice problem to have for this team.

There's a very good chance Ramsey is gone when we pick. I could easily see San Diego taking him, especially with Eric Weddle leaving.

Absolutely he could be gone. My gut tells me he is there simply because of position, but no one seems a lock to go top 3 this year. Even Tunsil...I'm not certain he is even better than the ND Tackle. Good chance either Ramsey or Bosa is there. Those would be my top 2 picks, but like I said there are a dozen guys I'd be OK with and for all we know the guy Dallas wants isn't even on anyone else's radar right now and isn't even being mentioned in any of these threads here...

I'm starting to hear a lot of these talking heads rumor that Tennessee might like Ramsey and would likely pull the trigger on drafting him. That would be a bomber. We know Either Ramsey, Hargrave, or Bosa will make it to us. I'm confident that any of these guys make us better.

Ive seen some mocks with San Diego taking Ramsey with the 3rd pick, right in front of us. Makes sense since Weddle is moving on. A trade back may be an option if it isn't too far and we can get a couple picks too

  • Albert Breer believes there are teams willing to draft OSU CB Eli Apple over Florida CB Vernon Hargreaves. According to Breer, although Apple won’t be taken ahead of FSU DB Jalen Ramsey, but he could be second defensive selected.
