He is still in his prime and really his peak. He is one of the greatest scorers I have ever seen honestly, it's amazing how can draw fouls. His inside and outside game is unstoppable. Watch out Warriors and Spurs.

He's doing good for the team, I think the Rockets are going to be a team to watch in the playoffs this year.

They are very explosive. That can make them dangerous in the playoffs. I don't think they can win the title, but they can have a say in who does.

Meh. I won't be convinced by him until he makes amends for his horrific showing in the 2012 NBA finals; once he can make it back and have a dominant showing in a series to decide the champion, THEN i'll give him his props.

That's pretty much what I was thinking - they are in the top five teams in the Western Conference even though I don't think they have quite enough to push out the other teams, but you never know

So you're judging his entire career by a 5 game series when he was 22 years old (especially now that he's a on a much higher level than he was 5 years ago)?

Doesn't make a whole lot of sense...

There's a list as lengthy as the day is long, of NBA stars who were big-timers in the regular season, and maybe even some of the playoffs, but couldn't get it done at the highest level, the NBA finals. So yeah, until he can get back there and get the job done, as a leader of this Houston team, he's not wowing me. Sorry if that hurts your sensibilities

So was Ted Williams not a legend in baseball because he didn't play well in the World Series (the highest level of baseball)?

Different sport, but same logic...playoffs are too small a small sample size to judge one's entire career by, otherwise you'd have to stay consistent and foolishly argue that Williams wasn't an all-time great baseball player, correct?

Great scorer in today's NBA. Great flopper. Not a great player. Great players play defense/both ends of the court.

this guy is what is wrong with the NBA today. Hold the ball at the top of the key, go into ISO, flop, draw a foul... Harden is a ball hog and not being able to take 25-30 shots a game would piss him off.

Ball movement? Defense? Team player? No

Predictable response when your argument falls apart because of flawed logic...

so you're gonna use an athlete from 70 years ago, playing a game that takes a far higher degree of skill to maintain a high level play, to prove your point that we all should be sucking james fucking harden's dick??

whatever. keep fellating to your harden poster in your bedroom, maybe you can fantasize about his beard tickling your asshole if it makes you feel better.

"*snivel snivel* you just don't love james like I do!"

He averages 18 shots / game ... and 11 assists / game.

A Davis, Cousins, DeRozan all have shot more than Harden this year. (among others)

Another post for the guy with the AV of Mr. "I'm Looking Out For Me"...who doesn't know what he is talking about. Houston has a pretty good core of players and could compete in a year or two.

If you switch the name in this topic to Chris Paul, I'd totally agree.

Harden isn't the guy on the other side of his prime.

Kind of. I mean, don't get me wrong, Williams is an all time great, but at the end of the day, it's about how you performed on your sports biggest stage.

So, while Williams is still an all time great, it does diminish or put him lower on the list of all time greats than those who performed well on the biggest stage.

It's why guys like MJ, Magic, Bird, etc. rank higher than guys like Barkley, Malone and Ewing. All of them are all time greats, but MJ, Magic and Bird got it done on the biggest stage while Barkley, Malone and Ewing didn't.
