Exactly.....I thought we overpaid to get him. But the financial part is always relative. And besides, its not our money to begin with. But your first sentence summed me up pretty good.

I laughed at the comment about "not getting hit."

And I was one of few who wanted us to resign Cruz from the get-go. But hey, that's way too much water-under-the-bridge.
It isn't our money, but when it is our team and they have a budgeted amount to spend it is kind of the same thing as it being our money. Every expenditure means they don't have that money to spend elsewhere. That is the only reason why I concern myself with how much each player costs.

Like we thought it looks like the Angels are getting ready to separate from the rest of the AL West. Wish it would not hold true. Go Pirates and Hurdle.

Not being a fly-on-the-wall and all, I'd like to know how much he'd like to stay here? If I new this, I wonder if he'd be good with a trade to a contender, and then to agree (only agree) to give us a fair shot to resign him in the off season.

He'd bring back quite a bit right now, regardless of what he wants/does next IMO.

I don't think 2 at $25 mil will get it done however.
I think he will get a longer contract. Maybe 4 or 5 years at about $16-18 million per year.

That's the only way to get him out of the lineup. Banny will not sit his ass.
Maybe Banny plays him to point out to JD how useless he is to the team. Or maybe he is like Wash in that he doesn't want to insult a veteran. I think I would rather it be the former instead of the latter.

For the life of me I can't figure out what is the matter with Choo. I keep waiting for him to find his old self but it's just not happening. Not sure if the big contract has anything to do with it in way of pressure to perform or becoming comfortable because he has nothing to play for.

I don't want him on a 4-5 yr deal.
I like what we have in house unless an unusually good deal comes along.

On that note, Perez is being hit hard tonight so far.

I like next year having Derek, Perez, Chi Chi, N. Martinez, and either Colby or Harrison until Darvish comes back early in the season. Then you always have Renaudo, Thompson, Eickhoff, Asher and Lopez to be ready in AAA.

Yes if you get value by all means sign Gallardo. But if money is issue why not try to resign Yu before giving up farm for Hamels. Yu only costs you money not guys we don't want to give up

I couldn't agree more, unless their full intention is to have both in their rotation.

Don't see this ownership doing with especially overpays on Choo, Elvis and money locked up on Harry etc. I would not mind flipping pitching and one bat for Hamels but one they want too much and two Yu and other options including Gallardo who wants to be here are better.

That Choo deal is uglier than the Vernon Wells deal.

I guess you could roll the dice and have Hamels and Yu next year but I would wait until after season. Longer we wait the lower the price and we get better idea what we have post injury Dutch Perez and Harry. How can you be optimistic re Harry though?

Total longshot but I wonder under some circumstances if we could flip Choo for Kemp. Choo would have to improve and probably some throw in. Don't know the specifics on Kemp contract but thinking it is a bad contract. Premise is unload Choo for another bad contract.ok looked up Kemp 4 years 21.5 mill total 86 million left

Observations on the Future's game.

Texas Rangers outfielder Nomar Mazara had one of the best BP sessions, then had two hits in the game, one a line-drive hit on a slider left up and one an infield single. He's gotten so big and strong compared to when I first saw him at 17 that he's almost unrecognizable, but I love the swing and approach.

Protect the team and fanbase. Logic totally flawed. Rally killing

Not true. If this logic proves out, and Choo becomes the hitter he's been in the past, this team gets exponentially better. To me it's a much bigger picture than trying to win a game or two.

Conceptually, what Banister is attempting is solid. The results have sucked, grant ya that.

But like it or not (know I don't) but we may just be stuck with Choo for the immediate future, b/c he's due a fortune. So this team will do anything and everything it can to rescue this guy (perhaps from himself). We don't have much choice.

Don't bat Choo second for now. Worry about protecting rally, team. Not jump starting Choo. He can bat down on the lineup. Logic that favors individual over team is a failed logic. That was my point. If he gets not move him back up

I honestly understood what you were saying. Your observation is valid.

My point is the team HAS to worry about Choo, even if it costs some rallies on the short run. If, mighty big if I know, he can get turned around, he makes this team a completely different offensive unit. His improvement would make a bigger difference than anyone else who's struggling on this team right now IMO.

From my view, if Choo doesn't come around, we're probably not going to achieve what we'd like for this season anyway. And we'll end up having to swallow an enormous amount of money in the process, which could hamper us going forward indefinitely.

We're not on different pages here. Like I said, your point is correct. If you go back and look at my recent posts, I've been down on the guy, as much as anyone. But I'm trying to look at it from the long term/team perspective. Perhaps that's some flawed logic. IDK

Yesterday I wanted to pull his ass in the middle of the second inning. Should tell ya something.
