Time to just let Lewis ge truly healthy, I think Oswalt is just a flare-up, he's been dealing with problems like this for years now

Come playoff time you have Darvish and Harrison, and then 2 to choose from when the time comes in Ogando, Feliz, Holland, Oswalt, and Lewis,

Personally I think any 2 of those guys will be good to go for a playoff run when that time comes

As of now we just need to make sure we get quality outings of the guys replacing Lewis and Oswalt for the time being

Count me in the camp that doesn't think trading for Greinke, Garza, Lee or Hamels is necessary

We could very well be a early
Playoff exit if we do nothing

But don't get me wrong, if the price is right you do it, but make sure you don't panic buy and bend to the will of the sellers

I think any package HAS to start with Olt, we have organizational depth to cover his loss and he's so highly touted right now that he'll allow us to make him the front runner instead of some of the other prime guys (I think Olt has Chris Davis written all over him, with better plate discipline)

Olt and Justin Grimm, I'd start there and see how much more we have to do, maybe someone like Leury Garcia or Luis Sardinas, and maybe a Jordan Akins

Those are the names I would start with. Profar and Alfaro off limits.

I'm better with that than stripping the farm system bare and screwing ourselves for years to come

No one is suggesting that we do that but trading some of our depth and our farm system is very deep, to bring in quality makes sense and keeps us moving forward.

No actually plenty of people ARE suggesting that,

but I'm also not just suggesting NOT making a trade, but doing due diligence and not giving into ridiculous demands or even some of the options "fans" are suggesting

Like I said:
Olt,
Garcia/Sardinas,
2 of Grimm, Wilmer Font, Roman Mendez, Tanner Scheppers, Barrett Loux
And find a 4th A ball piece to fit in there somewhere

Outside of Font (b/c he did the TJ a couple years ago), all of these guys are top 20 talents in one of the best systems in the majors

Profar has the ability to make an impact like Trout has, except fpr the speed aspect. He is even starting to flex the long ball down at Frisco

Profar is by no means slow, he just doesn't have the "wow" factor on the bases, you're still looking at probably 20-30 steals when he gets it figured out

I'd like to see how much he fills out in the next year and see if 3B is a position he could end up manning long term, with Beltre DHing towards the end of his contract

Yeah, right. Had it been left up to you for the last 6 years there wouldn"t be a farm system, much less a deep farm system.

okay making a move like that makes sense and it doesn't gut the farm.

Consider this Olt, Sardinas, Grimm, Loux for Justin Upton.

and then a package of veterans (Napoli, Murphy & Bourbon) & minor league pieces for Lee and Ruiz.

One or the other buddy, making BOTH trades will assuredly gut the system then

But I had forgot about Murphy and Borbon

The Phillies want young talent, not our ML cast-offs, they are trying to shed salary for the future not take on more

Thats what I was thinking. We could have infield of Profar,Andrus,Kinsler, and Olt. Not to shabby

Right and all you've contributed over that time period is to rant and rave about 1 player.

yes i've made some bad suggestions and some good ones but i don't remember suggesting that we abandon the farm system as you suggest. i favored a combination of building a good farm system while at the same time not being afraid to participate actively in the free agent/trade arena. and based on what we've done, that is exactly what the Rangers have done.

so tell us, what do you suggest we do? and leave any comments about 1 player out of your comments

Let go of the upton thing. Especially for those players.

True story.

from him i expect trash like that but from you romeo i'm shocked.
i favored a balanced form of action based on a good farm system and not being afraid of participating in the free agent/trade market. and that's what we did
