Derek Carr has to play much better then this year before he gets "paid"

But yeah don't be shy about paying top notch pass rushers and QB's if you got em.
Carr already got paid $125mm
His 2018 cap # is $25MM
Mack under is under his rookie salary still $13MM
Will be a FA in 19

That's right. Forgot he already got extended.

Raiders better hope he starts playing better then last year for that one not to go south.

I hate to say it but I will say the way they designed Carr's contract does give them some easy outs after this season. Throw in his cap hits are not the worst but stay pretty even throughout the contract.

I was one at the beginning of Carr's career that said he would be overrated quite a bit and still hold to that. His one really good year to me was more about the talent around him than him. I also think Musgraves did a good job calling an offense that actually fit his skill set. In college he struggled with those midlevel throws and that has not improved as he has gotten into the NFL. So an offense with him has to be geared towards going deep or keeping everything short. His OL is slowly starting to degenerate with age and I dont' think he has a whole lot of weapons around him right now so I don't see a huge spike in his play next year unless Gruden really does become this incredible coach.

Now that the Super Bowl is over, we can re-focus on some good old fashioned Chucky hate.

So big question...For Gruden was his more impressive coaching done in Oakland helping take a 4-12 team to a playoff contender or that of taking over an already Super Bowl caliber roster and getting them over the hump? Now after that Super Bowl win he pretty much did jack squat even though he had a top-10 defense 6 of the 7 years he was there and his expertise was supposed to be on offense.

Bigger question. Did all the years studying Qbs, offenses/ defense, schemes ext,etc possibly make him more prepared to handle a HC challenge? Has Peterson, etc benefited from years of mentoring from some of the best coaches ,organizations, and experience in the College ranks and NFL ? Yeah Belichek started off as a great HC. I forget what your job actually is anymore, Jack of all trades if I remember right but even someone of your intellect and experience has to know the room for growth and knowledge has no bounds if you seek it.

He would certainly be the exception if after being out of coaching for, how long?, 10 years he is successful. Only coach I can think of coming back and doing reasonably well was Joe Gibbs.

I can't believe any self respecting football fan could ever forget Vermiel's comeback with the Rams

Took the Eagles to a Super Bowl before leaving in 1982..... came back in 1997 to coach the Rams to their SB title, then finished off respectably at KC.
