No. . And the reason being. .EJ Manuel.. not to mention is entirely possible Watkins ends up being yet another in a long line of "can't miss rookie WR's". Those are two huge variables, and even if BOTH pan out, your still only hoping to get equal value of what you'd get with Gronk.

You are trying way too hard.

If you were rebuilding, then I think Watkins + a couple early picks might be a good deal, but if you want any chance to win now, you don't consider this. In any event, you don't do a deal like this straight up.

That's a tough one. But I'm tempted to go Watkins here. I'm a big believer in him, especially if we're talking long-term.

In a keeper league, I think it's important to look at overall talent rather than situation. The situation changes faster than the talent does. From the highlights I've seen, I really think Watkins is going to be special. Gronk's durability is now a concern. I would give that edge to Watkins. I'm sure others will disagree.

Gronk has a better situation, playing with Tom Brady. But Brady is getting older. EJ Manuel is unproven but could turn into a good QB, or thinks could change for the Bills at QB. Who knows?

Long-term, I'd go Watkins. It's close, and it might not even be the right choice, and it will probably take a year for Watkins to really emerge, but I think we'll at least see big flashes this year. But if you have a chance to win it this year, then stay with Gronk.

With the loss of Stevie Johnson, I do expect Buffalo to force feed Sammy Watkins the ball. But even then, rookie receivers rarely put up big numbers.

If you look at rookie season stats of recent stud receivers:
- Josh Gordon: 50 recs, 805 yards, 5 TDs
- AJ Green: 65 recs, 1057 yards, 7 TDs
- Julio Jones: 54 recs, 959 yards, 8 TDs
- Dez Bryant: 45 recs, 561 yards, 6 TDs

I think that's roughly your ceiling for Watkins (if you look at rookie stat sheets on guys like Demaryius Thomas and Alshon Jeffery it's not so pretty). And that's assuming he lives up to the hype.

Gronk put up similar numbers in just 11 games played in 2011. A little less when he only played 7 games in 2010.

Personally I'd go with Gronk. And just make sure there's a respectable backup option available if he misses games.

But how many rookies come in as the teams WR1???

But, if you were drafting in a brand new keeper league that started today, who goes first? Gronk or Watkins?

There are a ton of good WRs and Watkins has not yet proven himself to be a difference maker. There is no doubt that Gronk has more value today in any format, so Foot would need extra assets to compensate. Like I said earlier, Watkins + a first rounder would be a good trade if he were rebuilding, but it also drastically hurts his chances to win today.

Trading a proven stud for an unproven rookie straight up is not a wise gamble. Many rookies bust.

Bills QB get better? Bills QB situation might change for the better? LOL You realize we've been saying that since 1997 right? Talent over situation? Yeah, a mid-20's, 7 foot athletic monster who pretty much averages a TD per game at a position which will always be less used, and scarcely competitive.

This isn't close. Gronk by so far, you can't even see Watkins.

at this point in time..NO thanks on Watkins. Receiver is the hardest position to transition to in the NFL.

Nothing about Gronk's 2013 showed that his back was going to be an ongoing problem. Can't blame anyone involved for "over-waiting" getting him back on the field.

His arm and knee injuries were freak accidents, which happen in the NFL.

So I think the term injury prone is over-used.

Gronk. Elite tight end production is much more difficult to find than elite WR production. Supply and demand

Also it's not common for rookie WR's to post good stats, even less so when their QB is EJ Manuel, I would think.

Yes, the Bills QB situation will eventually get better. Maybe it's EJ Manuel, maybe it's not. But they're not going to perpetually suck at the QB situation. My guess is that bringing in the top WR draft pick is probably going to help the QB situation. But hey, what do I know? When the guy is doing things like this, that might just help the QB situation as well.

Meanwhile, Gronk has played in 18 of the last 32 regular season games and is coming off a major surgery. Even he admits that he's not 100% right now. He's not averaging a touchdown in games he's not playing in.

I don't think it's fair to compare Sammy Watkins to AJ Jenkins or many of the others. You're talking about a guy who could have potentially been taken with the first overall selection and a guy that was reached on with the 31st pick. Both first rounders, but HUGE difference imo.
