Sorry, but no. Orr could do it all. Gretz, not so much.

Hey I loved #4 as much as any hockey fan born in Framingham Ma. and I agree that he could do it all. If he only had better knees. IMO he comes a close second in players in the league that changed the game. He was the Puck moving defense-man. He was tougher and better in his own zone and would fight every now and again.
I just think that many of the rules and teams today exist because of #99. His number is retired league wide because while he played he was hockey to the world. Gretz saw the whole ice and was always a little ahead of the other guys. He wasn't the strongest or the fastest or the toughest, but no one controlled the game as well as #99.



Ok truth be told I normally take Orr in this discussion but no one on here was defending Wayne so.. I am making a weak attempt. There is a reason why the hockey world called him the greatest and why Hockey News puts him at the top. Maybe if the others in the running had not gotten hurt or if hockey hadn't exploded into so many markets when it did or..... But Wayne is the greatest until someone else comes along.
