I like the hire. Has experience in being a 3-4 d coordinator. Now get him some players. Brandon Williams NT and Hightower ILB are the two on my wishlist.
Manusky would not have been my choice, you're right about that. At the same time though think about what Phillips said. The defense has an overall lack of talent. Add in what you say (and I agree with you again) the Redskins are a bad organization.
Put those two things together and why would a Def Co with a great/good/solid reputation and record want to come to DC? There's no benefit to it and the only thing that could possibly appeal to a great/good Def Co. Is taking a low talented outfit like the Skins defense and turning it around. But that's where the bad organization rears its ugly head again particularly with Snyder.
Once the Def Co identifies what needs to be addressed - will he be given the resources to fix it? Wil he be part of the decision making process? Will Snyder, Allen and maybe even Scotty Mac support him, not support him or worse yet, undermine him?
If we don't go heavy in free agency going after defensive players Jay Gruden and Scot McCloughan are done here because the team will suck next season plain and simple

I have said a handful of times that Pettine, Pagano or Thurmond would have been better picks. You don't know if Phillip wasn't going to come here. He agreed to an interview and then got the offer from the Rams. Sources state that we was weighing the two options and went with the Rams due to the lack of talent here in DC.
I understand that Gruden liked Manusky and that is the problem. You go with the better talent, not your friend.
The entire offensive line without whom he gets crushed!
It's as much the quarterbacks responsibility to avoid sacks as his line. Kirk has a good line in front of him but he's makes them look good to by getting rid of the ball quickly.
Bryan Frye’s QB Series: Part 1 – Upright Citizens (Quarterbacks who Avoided Sacks)

yeah its a puff piece for sureLOL - I am good with the moves, but jeez Larry Michael is such a brown noser & just goes overboard by saying how much he loves all of these moves (I thought that he might even have gone crazy about the new strength coach).
