Peers and everyone else say MJ the GOAT. That would be false (lie is another word).

Funniest thing you said was calling anyone else a nuthugger. Be like Augustus Gloop calling a kid overweight.
That’s quite true. MJ didn’t have to call himself the goat like LeBron tries to do.

Depends on the era. I'll agree it was the best when the arm bar was still allowed and you could play defense. Since we've gotten this pussy ass league where traveling/charging is basically never called and everyone just shoots 3s non-stop... I'd pick a different team now.

That’s a good point. If guys like Ewing, David Robinson and Olajuwon played in today’s game, would they just be bombing 3’s all day? Is that what 7 footers do now? That would break my heart to see that, if so.

Regardless, the original Dream Team could adapt to any era. You don’t think you can win today with Bird, Mullin, Magic and Stockton taking 87 3-pointers a game? Also, look at the elite passers on that roster. Do guys still pass the ball the way that Bird, Magic & Stockton did?

Yah I mean they probably could adapt. Bird was one hell of a shot, he just wasn't asked to be taking 3s non-stop. Jordan was basically unable to defend with his 2 pointer fadeback. They were all great defenders as well. And Stockton is prob. the best passer in NBA history so if you gave Bird/Jordan the green light to be launching 3s non-stop you're prob. winning against a team built to chuck up 3 balls non-stop.

All 4 of the players you just mentioned would be great in today’s game that rewards skill.

I will never understand why people think throwing an arm bar on somebody is good defense.

That was never what basketball was supposed to be. Move your feet and stay in front of your man. Make them shoot a difficult shot.

First, today's players don't even know what the real rules of basketball are. Neither do the officials.

When was the last time you saw a call for turning the ball over?
When was the last time you saw a traveling call for taking three steps before a dunk?

I coached and officiated Elementary through High School and AAU for more than 30 years. AAU bastardized basketball at the youth level because they wanted more of the inner city kids playing AAU and getting more sponsors. AAU Tournaments became geared as scouting combines for colleges and not youth tournaments. They started allowing more and more of the rules to be bent and then broken. Once the kids went to college and played like they did in AAU, the colleges and then the pros had to follow suit.

Players today in the NBA could not play in the Magic, Bird Era. Rules were too stringent for today's pros.

Till this day, at my age, I still get down 3q’s , hands up , and move the feet.

Opponents have called out foul on me for such D even before an attempted shot

Game today, roll ball on court , no strategy vs who you’re playing, beyond the perimeter game.

Sounds like good defense.

You beat the offensive player to the spot and there is body contact, that is not a foul. Most people don’t understand that.

But there is a lot of defensive strategy in the game today. Lots.

Coaches could spend an entire 2 hour practice breaking down different pick and roll coverages for specific opponents on the opposing team.

Often they don’t get so deep in the weeds for regular season games, which is why playoff defense is always better.

But to say there is no strategy is a major exaggeration.

And let me finish by sayin , 2 sloths, are NBA superstars in todays game

1. I don’t know who your second one is.

But that is because modern rules don’t allow defenders to cheat with their hands and highly skilled players win out.

About 90% of highlight plays from today's stars would have been some kind of violation in the '80s or even the early 2000s.

I got more satisfaction, the fans appreciated great D back then, they still do even if it’s a lost art in the game today

We spent 2 hours runnin suicides till we got it right

The strategy I mention, solely on the coach, really not their faults , game has been changed to the 3 . Doesn’t take much strategy in getting ball up court as fast as you can only to spit it back out for an uncontested 3

Eh.

More than you think.

Doesn’t look like a lot of strategy in free flowing read and react offenses.

But there is plenty of strategy behind the spacing and the reads players make. Just looks different than a set with 5 players in motion.

But a lot harder to teach a good free flowing read and react offense than it is to run a bunch of sets. Because you have to have reads to counter different coverages embedded in the offense.

Just admit that you have no clue what you're talking about and stfu.

That crap you posted doesn't even address the post you quoted.

But that's your MO...you don't understand the post you're responding to so you default "tHe GaMe TOdAy iS AlL aBOuT dA 3".

Get a new schtick...this one is played out and boring.

You are too much dude.

You think defenses are ok with offensive teams shooting uncontested 3s all game long?

Or you think maybe there is some offensive action that creates these shots…

But I guess that doesn’t fit your narrative of no effort and no strategy.

Except it isn’t.

33% from 3 is equal to 50% from 2

Think about what you are claiming here.

You are saying the shot the offense wants to take is the same shot that the defense is willing to allow.

Makes no sense at all.
