Here's the thing @Dean. The talking point is that he's willing to restructure his contract towards a more team friendly one.
While it's true that his cap hit this year and possibly next can be minimized, the team will still be paying him beyond that time in order to get those cap friendly numbers. Keep in mind that Kerrigan will be a 32 year old player this season (August 16th) coming off injury.

I want the 11mil saved. IF he can fetch a draft pick then do it or just release him. With the drafting of Young it makes him expandable. Allen can be the rotation DE or DT.

Funny thing is people on here would say no to a 2nd round pick for RK. that's just nuts.

Yeah, I've been all about going with youth and getting better stocked with draft choices this year. By all accounts, there's so much first round talent that there's going to be spillover into the second and possibly third. This draft may go down as the riches in modern draft history.

And its exactly the reason we need to trade back plus trade TW and Kerrigan.

Well at least we can agree on TW and Kerrigan being traded.

first off , RK's contract is offset by a guys rookie deal playing the same position

if he is extended his cap hits in the future wont be suffocating

the cap is projected to go way way up with the new CBA

now if we got a 2nd rounder for him he would be traded

fact is we wont get that for him with his contract and only one year under contract

you are looking at a 4-7 round pick after the draft not before

I understand you see it as offset; however, RK will be a backup and that is too much for a backup.

The cap going up has no bearing on if he is overpaid, severely.

Field the trade offers.
