Right there is no need to extend RK and we can save 11m from his release.

Trade him! That's the best option.
It's actually silly tohold on to him. He becomes a one or best case a two-year rental with dead money down the road. Why on Earth would we want to do that?

Let's not get carried away dad. Ironman is our best DL right now as he makes plays rushing the passer and tackling the ball carrier. The guy has blown away his draft status. Allen is on his rookie deal so there is that but another year of evaluation on him could mean we resign. Kerrigan, albeit a very good Redskin, is really the odd man out unless he takes a significant pay cut. Reality is he is on the wrong side of 30 and his play has diminished. If ANY team is willing to take Kerrigan for a 3rd, you definitely do it however, I'm not so sure there will be many suitors unless it is a top 5 team looking to add a vet pass rusher thinking that will put them over the top. Doubt it.
i am not getting carried away', the statement was made ionman was the better pass rusher i showed he wasnt . whether he outplayed his draft status is inconsequential to that fact .

i dont think he is any better or worse then allen or payne .

i also feel that trading away a 1st round pick with PB potential for a 2nd rounder or less is stupid . trade the 5th rounder for that and get a net profit .

as for RK he had an off year and was injured . it doesnt matter if he takes a pay cut, or is traded, or he plays out his contract . doesnt hurt us one bit if we are smart but people focus too much on the RK side as opposed to the allen side

we dont have to do anything with this d/line for a couple of years so i dont see the need to force it

dude , if we dont think he is worth 12 mil , why do you think anyone else does ? and who is going to make a trade before the draft ? same with TW .

The thing is, RR, has already made it clear that he wants RK to be part of the team this year. I don't think it's wise to keep him until his usefulness has expired. He still has trade value now, less so next year (likely no trade value then)

not worried about trade value . perhaps his value is using his character , work ethic and leadership to change this culture

Yeah, I suppose that's one way to look at it but for the record there's another way to look at his character, work ethic and leadership, and that is, as not being effective in merely putting a dent in a cultural change during all of the time that he's been here. What makes this guy so special vs others who have been here with equal or better strength of character, work ethic and leadership abilities?

Look, I like Kerrigan too, but at this time of year it's about the business side of the game. His departure (via trade) helps this team, and that should have happened a year or two ago when they could have maximized the return on him. Now with his trade value rapidly dwindling, we're talking about culture change based upon his character, work ethic and leadership as if none of that would be possible if he wasn't here.

If the Skins were smart, they would part ways with both Williams and Kerrigan likely netting them young talent in return for two aging vets. We have been a model of consistency in this area for years on end. Change the culture!

Dysfunction!!
When the Colts inquired last year, they should have jumped all over it. Imagine this team now preparing for this draft with either #34 or #44 in the second round AND 11 million in extra cap space.

Now they're looking at extending this guy. He not taking a pay cut, I don't know how anyone believes that. It's all about trading a more friendly current cap number for dead money down the road. Perhaps, the negotiation will open some eyes, but I doubt it. As previously stated... Dysfunction!!

Even if we cant trade him the 11mil in cap space is worth more than a situational pass rusher. that is all RK will be on this team. Put the 11m in use for Hooper, Bradberry, or sign back our current olineman.

Wonder if Ryan Anderson, is that his name??
Wonder if he makes the impact we expected taking him in the 2nd round with the switch to 4-3.

It's going to take some time to psychologically get over the damage that Vinny and Bruce imposed on this organization.

Here's the thing @Dean. The talking point is that he's willing to restructure his contract towards a more team friendly one.
While it's true that his cap hit this year and possibly next can be minimized, the team will still be paying him beyond that time in order to get those cap friendly numbers. Keep in mind that Kerrigan will be a 32 year old player this season (August 16th) coming off injury.
