The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot reports the Browns will "try to trade for" Jimmy Garoppolo this offseason.

The Browns hold the Nos. 1 and 12 picks in the first round of the draft, giving them ammo over other teams that may be interested in acquiring Garoppolo. It's highly unlikely Cleveland would give up the top pick, but the 12th pick and a third- or fourth-rounder would probably get the deal done. This isn't the first time the Browns have been linked to Garoppolo and likely won't be the last. Coach Hue Jackson has said finding a quarterback of the future is his main goal.

If this guy fetched this kind of draft picks, what is KC really worth in draft picks? Im not saying we would do it but you have to be curious.

Not curious in the least. Jeez - give it up already. Again - how did you go so quickly from being president of the Cousins fan club to being one of his biggest haters?

Not a hater. Get that through your head. What the hell dude. So if the 49ers offer us 2 first rounders you wont even listen if you were SM?

Again - read the recent articles on this subject. It doesn't sound like this decision is in the hands of SM. It also doesn't sound like any team is offering anything remotely close to that for Cousins - it is strictly the media trying to get viewers/visits to their sites/etc.

If you are not a hater then why do you appear to be exploring every avenue to get rid of him & why did you go off on him so much after the Giants game?

Any good business man hears all offers before making a decision. KC deserved to be called out after the Giants game. Any fan would see that. If Synder is involved then KC is going to be the highest paid QB in football. SM has to be pissed if Synder silenced him on this deal. Im not saying don't sign KC but would you hear at least what the 49ers or any other team is offering?

Nope... because any good businessman knows, if an offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Now you can sit there and fantasize that we could get THESE awesome players with these draft picks, but most smart Gms realize you dont ditch a productive player based on one or two bad games for a crap shoot in the draft. Sure we could get those picks and draft the next Aron Rogers with one of them.... or we could get the next Ryan Leaf and Brian Bosworth.

Im not saying don't sign KC but at least hear the offers first. What is the downside?

You dont listen to offers unless you have some sort of intent to make the deal.

And you dont deal your starting QB unless you have a solid plan in place for replacing him. We dont, so it would be pointless and counter productive to have it leaked the redskins are shopping Cousins. And that is basically how that would play out.

If IM SMGM and SF calls to ask what would it take to get Cousins, I throw them a ridiculous offer and hang up.

the 49ers may take the ridiculous offer of 2 first round picks. Grap is going to get a 1 and a 3. By doing what you say just gives KC even more leverage. Why back your franchise into a corner?

First off I dont think 2 firsts is ridiculous because it is the franchise tag compensation.

TO me, I would start with the RG3 deal and work from there.

The real question is, why should the franchise be so desperate for draft picks that they are even considering trading the most productive QB they have had in 25 years??

Answer, because it would be sexy and exciting..... are you sure your last name isnt Cerrato??

No team has ever given up two firsts plus give that player the largest contract in nfl history. For you to even turn that down is crazy. You are talking about potentially two top 10 picks. Lynch is a rookie Gm, he might just be dumb enough to do it.

NO team has ever traded their starting QB without having a backup plan that didnt include... screw it we will just throw some retread in there and hope it works out because we got the draft picks. When Brees left the Chargers, they had a plan in plce. When Manning left the Colts, they had the Luck plan in place.

What you are hoping for is we deal Kirk and then say.. throw it all against the wall and see what sticks.

If we do the trade you still think we have to get a QB this year. That is not the case.

Who starts? And aside from the warm fuzzy of playing mock draft, what do we actually gain out of the deal that is better than having a competent QB??

You gain multiple starters on out team that we desperately need. You can start McCoy or use sign Cutler has a stop gap. You would really turn to two first rounders Shark?

YEp.. because as i have tried to tell you many times... sure you might get the next JJ Watt, or you might get the next Bos Worth.

And you are also making the offense weaker just so you can say, well look what we got in the draft. If drafting a player in the first round was a sure thing, even on defense..... Phil Taylor would still be on the Browns roster dontcha think??

Of course its a crap shoot but if KC contract demands are too high we have a nice out with 2 first round picks. Its not like if we lose KC we will get nothing for him

So we are back on the contract aspect now. Dean just fess up... you just want the draft picks. The contract is just the excuse you are using because at the end of the day, Kirks contract "demands" shouldnt matter when we realize that not keeping him serves a better than even chance of setting the team back 3-5 years no matter who we draft. Because if we draft a QB, it will take that long for a rookie to develop. and we have gone over the list of actual available QBs that wont cost us a trade, and none of them are equal too much less an upgrade over Cousins.

That is your opinion on that matter. We can get avg to decent QB play to get us to 8 or 9 wins with McCoy or Cutler. Plus factor in all the money you save to upgrade the overall team. You make it sound that we are giving up on Rodgers or Wilson here. Kc stats are very inflated. Yes he has done well but not well enough to turn down any trade offer. There you go again and wanting to give KC a blank check. Yes the contract does matter.

IF Cutler is considered an 8-9 win QB, why would the Bears release him?? He is under contract through 2020. So we would have to trade for him. His cap hit would be $15M in that case.. .where as I expect Kirks to e around $18M

SO who is this MASSIVE talent you think we can get for a savings of $3M in cap space that will make up for a downgrade in QB??

Not to mention... what would we have to trade the Bears to get Cutler in the first place?? And if anyone in Ashburn thought McCoy could do what Cousins did, we wouldnt have tagged him last year... or has THAT slipped your mind??

Lastly I thought the whole point was to get better, not cruise at 8-9 wins and a fringe playoffs team. Unless you really think two rookie starters on defense are going to take us from 28th to top five defense in their first year?? Because I assume by your stance we would use the 2nd and 17th on two defensive rookies right??
