Darius Slay will be entering his 3rd year and showed some promise last year. How do we grade him coming into 2015?

Use the grading scale I've provided below and from there, I will get the average score for each player after a day or two.

Rank 1-10 with 10 being the highest. Include percentages (.1.2.3.4.5) if you believe player is between certain levels.

1- Bad player. Should not be on a NFL roster.
2- Tackling dummy or jock carrier.
3- Nothing more than a practice squad player.
4- Low level backup player.
5- Quality backup or role player with no starting potential.*
6- Starter but easily upgradeable.
7- Mid level starter, with potential as a high level starter.
8- High level starter, with All-Pro potential.
9- Consistent All-Pro player.
10- Potential Hall of Fame player.

8 - I think he can be one of the better ones in the league. Still, I see him make some mistakes and think he can improve his hands.

I would love to find another even better CB to eventually make Slay a dominant 2 instead of a decent 1.

Solid 7 right now, hoping for 8 in a couple years.

He played as an 8 this year. He pretty much shutdown his man in about 14 or 15 out of 17 games. So he was a high level starter last year, and he has room to grow.

7.9. I'm loving his game. 2nd year player with that much improvement from his 1st year is beyond encouraging. If he continues his play he'll be an 8. If he takes another leap forward he is a sure fire #1 and one of the better CB's in the league. This kid has perennial all-pro potential.

7.875 (or 7 and 7/8ths)

I was going to say 7.9 but the Stormin' Mormon there stole my thunder. I think Slay has the potential to be one of the best few CBs in the league. He's already a top 15 guy in just his 2nd year, and if his growth continues on the same trajectory he showed this year, he'll be a star. He could finally be that mythical shut-down corner we've always dreamt of... our unicorn...

7.2 against top tier offenses. I would only go with a higher rating for Darius Slay against a 2nd or 3rd tier offense.

Top Tier...... the last couple of years we haven't really played that many, have we?

Pats, Cards, Pack.... Saints.... Is that it?

Peyton Manning too. Five HOF QBs against in two years....

Plus Eli.

And Romo.....

Sandy Ego I'm not counting as Top Tier. Chicago could've been, but they weren't good enough to keep their coach or their best players. Who else am I forgetting?

I don't think I'm forgetting anybody.

You could go higher for like three quarters of the games, that's pretty good for 7.2.

It's all good and no worries if the Lions don't make the post season then. Slay's a good starter, but all pro potential against top tier teams he's not, IMHO.
