No I haven't. But plenty long enough to know a thing or two about the skins.

It's not that SM was some super genius who would have fixed everything. It's that he was a real gm who understood basic team building concepts like valuing youth and draft picks. He also wasn' a sellout to ownership. He was a real GM.

There's plenty of blame to go around in the KC situation but a LOT of it falls on Bruce. That's indisputable.

Of course free agents want to be here. Free agents will go anywhere that pays them. No shit. But you have to actually bring in good players to get any credit.

Is there? We're locked into an aging QB who wasn't good enough for his 2 previous teams, have a coach likely on the hot seat, and have done nothing to make me think this roster is actually improving from a year or 2 ago. In a couple years we'll have a new coach and a new QB. Yay.

We are starting to agree too much...

Whoopi is hotter than Megan Fox

There.. fixed it. :suds::D

Back to 5he thread statement.

Every player, not on their rookie contract, is overpaid. You can’t continually have a team of retreads and rookies because you don’t want to overpay people.

So, who to overpay is the question.

You should overpay your own guys, guys that have proven they can play within your system, guys that have proven they work hard for you. You should not overpay people from other teams, teams that have already deemed the player you want is not worth the price you are about to pay for a guy that may not excel in your system even if he works hard in your system.

Which redskins free agent did you think the redskins should overpay? Breeland? Murphy?

It can be argued that all of the redskins free agents and also NONE of the redskins free agents were worth overpaying.

I’m sorry, but every team doesn’t have the best players for their system. Every team has at least a few pieces that would be right for other teams. That is why you spend prudently on guys you think will fit your system that are better than the guys you have on your team.

The redskins thus far have done well to not break the bank. The off-season isn’t over yet.

As debating points go, this ^^^^^ one is as good as it gets, in favor of a GM who is all about getting talent that fits our system. Just because they start here doesn't mean that they are a good fit for this team. Over paying or paying starter money for role players is just maddening. We have to get into the business of drafting for starters or high upside players who push for PT within a year or so. In order to do that we must have a dedicated GM. Bruce wears too many hats (team president, GM, and head of football operations) to be effective at any one of them. His strength is in finance (B.A. Richmond) and only known initial qualifier for GM is as a punter for his alma mater.

Which of the Free Agents that Bruce refused to pay didnt end up starting or playing key roles for us at some point??

Breeland??
Murphy??
Long??
Hell even Grant to an extent.

The reality is, Bruce refuses to PAY guys we drafted and developed into starters, and alot of times brings in other teams ROLE players and pays them like they were starters. And the few ACTUAL starters he brings in, we do end up grossly over paying. And i dont want to hear the he wears too many hats crap. Thats by choice on his part. So he cant take on too much, then be given a pass ( or more precisely) saying well what do you expect from a man who has no choice as he is spread so thin??

As opposed to having 2354756453 threads all of which are just whack ass attempts at saying how GMish Bruce Allen has been this year. @skinsdad62 could just sticky a "Skins fans who wanna snort BA's dingleberries and smoke his dried up nut-sack sweat post here" thread. And y'all can have at it.

How does going 24-23-1, a first place finish that ended in a one n done post season. Followed by two third place finishes and watching our Win/Loss record get worse and worse over those 3 years qualify as success?

Not really, they sucked ass Grudens first year with that other QB.

Just saying.

More due to that other QB being a fuckin albatross around the neck of a pro style offense. Than anything Gruden did or didn't do.

I already stated we should have offered B.B. a contract in November/December. If we are worried about outs, make it over three years at 5 mil per season as a start. Meet at about 7.

Trent Murphy absolutely should have been offered a contract in December while still injured. He probably would have been cheaper. I would be close to paying him the contract he signed with SF.

Spencer Long should definitely have been signed for 6 mil guaranteed.

Ryan Grant, I would have let walk. I would have offered 2 mil a season though.

The team currently has to add at least one OLB. Kerrigan, Smith and Anderson is who they have. Well they have two others but I was under the impression they were camp fodder.

The team has to replace two CBs. Maybe they did that in part by signing Scandrick and re-signing Dunbar.

There is a way to keep guys here. If you like them, then extend them before they get to FA status. Good FOs do things like that. You don't have to wait to get into a bidding war you don't want to be in.

In 2015 Cousin's made $660,000. Is it even a possibility he might have signed for half or 3/4s of what Flacco was making? What about the 4 guys that left via FA this year? Do you think any of them would have resigned.

Part of team building is continuity. We all know there is a lot of TO in football but having guys that know your system and you know their strengths and weaknesses doesn't suck. Of course a good FO knows when to let a guy walk and it is better to let them walk a year early than a year later but good FOs know when to do that.

We let two WRs, two CBs (one through trade) and two OLBs go this year. All 6 have to be replaced and they still need to fix, add to or fill in the weak spots that were there before FA started.

So three days later lessee what we have:

1. The team replaced at least one OLB with a competitive offer that he couldn't get better anywhere else. CHECK

2. The team replaced two cbs with scandrick and dunbar, and are awfully high on Moreau. CHECK

3, The team signed Richardson to replace one of the wrs, and apparently "feel good" about Robert Davis. I assume they'll address this in the draft too. CHECK.

If they sign Hankins, they'll be in a great position to draft cb, rb, or dl in the first round, then rb or cb in the second.

I really wish I could get excited about the moves Bruce makes. There was a time when I felt like some around here..

This will be the year, this will be the move. We will finally see the real Redskins of old come out and play.

Then Bruce wakes up, and i feel like this guy..

Why do you troll the redskins message board, philly fan, when you're not a fan of the redskins? Don't you have anything better to do?

Agreeing with the OTP doesn't make you any more credible - he's a clown too.

Sad.
