i didnt see him at the canada day bouncy castle that city of kelowna had set up over the past weekend nor did i see him at the italian cafe i watched the italy germany euro game at so yah ... he coulda been outta town

but July 29th

I wouldn't worry about it too much jstew even if they did have dinner together. Most likely the conversation went something like this:

DWil: So Shea, what do you think of the San Jose Sharks?
Weber: I think I can bring a lot to the team and they make the playoffs every year which is enticing.
DWil: Great, great. The San Jose Sharks are very impressed with your skills. We're thinking of trading for your rights. What are you thinking in regards to contract?
Weber: Well, something along the lines of what my buddy Ryan Suter just got except for $8.5M per year average. It's gotta be a front-loaded contract too.
DWil: Here in San Jose, we don't do those long term, front loaded contracts. Here we believe ina small sacrifice by the player for the good of the team so that we can build a perennial cup contender.
Weber: Who's paying for dinner tonight Doug?
DWil: .....Odd question.....this dinner is courtesy of the San Jose Sharks of course.
Weber: Excuse me Waiter? Can I have 3 bottles of Dom Perignon to go please? Thanks.
DWil: .....
Weber: See you next time your boys come up to Vancouver Dougie. Thanks for the dinner.....and the Dom.

You're probably kidding about the tampering charges, so I apologize in advance for being a if you are.....

That said, I'd assume if the dinner really did take place, it would have been done so with Poile's advance knowledge and blessing. I'm sure Poile can get much more in a trade if Weber lets the interested teams know what he's looking for in a contract.

/tangent ... this weekend, my wife was at a park with the kids while i was poolside and she sent me a pic of a dude she said she though was a hockey player with his kid at the park ... she said she couldnt put the face to a name though ... i said take a pic and send it to me ... she takes it from Penticton as shes driving outta the park (far away picture) ... after taking a pic of his white ranger rover with big shiny moving rims ...

so i think of all the players that might be in kelowna and I send her a link to different guys i can think of with longish hockey hair (as she described him) ... nope to all of them ... she says she thinks he played for the leafs? I try to think of leafs with local connections ... maybe Joffrey Lupul ??? think to myself ... isnt he a walking std though? ... cant be married ... send her a link to a pic of him ... nope ... she says he's an older guy
