I started by saying two teams in the NFCW control their own destiny. I didn't write off anyone. When talking about 'controlling your destiny' it is assumed you are saying IF you win out. You can't take any road game for granted against anyone and I haven't. Seattle still has a tough road ahead of them in both of their last two games. These are simply hypotheticals.

Dallas has the hardest road of all of the teams currently sitting on 4 wins to reach the 1st seed. They have a worst conference win record than all of the remaining teams so they fail every tiebreaker except head to head with Seattle.

Their path to #1 would require BOTH the Lions AND GB to lose one of their next two games. If either wins out Dallas has no path to #1 seed. They would also obviously need Seattle to beat Arizona and either also beat the Rams or Arizona to lose to the 9'ers in the last game.

Obviously Arizona has the easiest path to holding their own destiny, even if no one believes they actually will. Second team with the best chance is Seattle.

C'mon Wizard. You may say you are not writing anyone off, but face it, you are writing the Cards off. You have done it several time this year so why stop now?

The Packers are guaranteed the #2 seed by winning the last 2 games. The only way left for the 1 seed would be for AZ to lose both games and the Rams beat Seattle so those odds do not look all that great.

If an 11-5 team gets left out it has to be either Dallas of Philly.

Or GB if 4 way tie between Dallas, Philly, GB and Sea. Philly gets the divsion and Dallas and Sea get the WC. Or even 5 way tie with Det in there too as they get the division over GB

They will choose one. Usually they try to choose the one where it is a win or go home situation for one of the teams so most likely cincy @ Pittsburgh imo

n Week 17, in order to ensure a Sunday night game with playoff implications, the decision to move the start time may be made on six days notice.

Because they already clinched a playoff spot? I mean how do you write off anyone that clinched?

Arizona has defied all of the odds in getting to where they are now so why wouldn't anyone give them some kind of chance at continuing? Was losing Stanton AND your starting RB enough to end that streak? Odds say it should have impact, but we will see.

Again, the point of my post was the control of your own destiny and who needed the most help to get into a deep playoff run. Arizona clearly holds the best spot for that in the NFC. Win 2 and the road to the SB goes right through the same stadium that the SB will be played in. Outside of that, it gets kind of crazy with so many teams bunched up around the 10 win mark right now.

AFC could be fun too. Starting with the Thursday night battle of Tennessee at Jacksonville...

I'd say those two games are the most likely. They'll probably determine the division champs in those games.

No. If Philly and Dallas tie, Philly would win due to a better divisional record.

Right, so either way Dallas has to lose at least one and Philly win two or Dallas lose two and Philly only lose one. Either puts them on the outside looking in.

It's not favorable for either to make it as a WC.

Yea that is correct. Only one is likely to get in, the division champ. But if Dallas loses one of two and Philly wins out, I think Philly becomes the division champ.

The only scenario I don't understand is Detroit, and whether Philly or Dallas lose a Detroit tiebreaker.

Detroit holds the tiebreaker over both... conference record.

Even though my craptastic team is 5-9 we still control our own destiny for the division. Win our last 2 and we are in. Thats really about all you can ask for going in to the season. Its be nice to be 9-5 instead but who really cares?? Once youre in the playoffs anything can happen.

I think it would be funny if Atlanta makes the playoffs and still gets its coach and GM fired

Its about a 12 spot swing in draft selection. I had the same conversation when Seattle got in at 7-9. The draft pick swing wasn't as big but still you take the playoffs. I wouldn't trade the memory of the beast quake for anything.
