Actually, ignore what I just wrote. I'm jumping the gun based on third-hand reports.

Sounds like some kind of ginned-up compromise between "you broke the rules when those were the rules" and "new rules apply now" - just for the sake of Gordon. But whatevs. Contracts can say anything. Happily they're not writing rules for the rest of us.

So then Welker should have to serve his time.......of course I think they're going to say Welker's violation was 2014 and Gordon's 2013..............this is pretty funny actually.

was the DUI Gordon got in June his first offense of that nature?
I thought pot busts and DUIs hit the same category in the world of NFL punishments.

Yep, it's all speculation until the official word comes down.

Yes to the first question and no to the second. This is his first offense on the DUI track which is independent of the "substances of abuse" track. If you're gonna be bad, be balanced.

Screw it. I just picked up Blackmon in my money league......................free passes for all! BTW, if Welker comes back I'd have to say Latimore is a dynasty league stash and not much more than that.

Ha! Ballsy move. I wonder just how far the NFL and Players Union are going to go if this scenario plays out.

Seems to me the prediction for Gordon is a pretty logical one. Appeases the union, and still a stiff enough penalty to help quell any public outcry, especially from the vocal majority who will lump this situation in with the Rice one.

Even if I didn't have Gordon in 3 leagues, I'd still be as fascinated as I am with how this will turn out.

I foolishly dropped Gordon from the one league that I drafted him in when they upheld the original suspension.
Once I heard that he might be able to get cleared, it was too late - someone else already picked him up.

And this is a PPR league that has 3 WRs and 1 FLEX spot in the starting roster where I could really use some WR help.........FML

But on a good note - I scored the 2nd least points in that league in week 1....and won!

I still don't get it. . At all. Not just the ridiculousness of retro active anything, but especially these predictions of Gordons possible suspension. Supposedly retro active for the 2014 league year, his infraction occurred during the 2013 year. But they still are retro-ing something there. OK, retarded but ok, whatever. So, throughout this entire process, it was always a year or nothing. I know therewe're report after report of possible settlement, but realistically was always all or nothing. Now this retro crappie comes along, this positive test is no longer a positive test, yet there's still a suspension coming? ? WTF? makes NO SENSE whatsoever! !!!

That's my thought on the matter.........seems like it should be an all or nothing type deal to me. I picked him up in 2 leagues and as dumb as this may sound (fantasy wise) I would almost rather it be nothing instead of 8-10 games...................I mean you almost have to burn that roster spot and the rewards should be great but it still seems crazy to me that he'd get anything less than a year or more than the 2 weeks he's already served.

I don't remember a beginning of an NFL season to have so many NON-football GAME drama and mismanagement... I wasn't for goodell to be fired about the ray rice situation, but after this situation plus the ray rice BS, I really think he needs to go whether it is his fault or not... These situations are not helping football at all, and need a scapegoat!!!

Fuck it.

I say put weed right on the sidelines. Turn one of those Gatorade jugs into a giant bong. We're in a new age, boys! Light it up!

But only in Denver and Seattle though since it's still illegal everywhere else.

I wonder if the ray rice situation never happened if they would have changed the rulings so fast...

Gordon is a great receiver. But some guys do well in certain systems, and without Norv Turner calling the shots in CLE, I'm skeptical that he comes out hot and stays hot when the NFL decides to let him play.

Agreed that he won't come out and set the league on fire again, but still.

CLE doesn't really have any other WRs, Cameron getting banged up this early in the season is not a good thing after he ended last year injured.

I have a hard time seeing Gordon as anything less than an every week starter in fantasy, unless you only start 1 WR with weird league formats.

Except I wouldn't use "great". He's a good receiver. Remember, Brandon Lloyd was the #1 WR once upon a time. I'm not calling Josh a one-year wonder, but I'm not ranking him with the top seven either.

As for Welker - it's not that anything is overturned, just recategorized from "performance enhancing" to "substances of abuse" because it was the off-season. But yeah, he'd be eligible to play.

From PFT the terms will include:

3. All players who tested positive or who were otherwise disciplined or placed into the drug or PED program will have retroactivity, with the new rules being reapplied as of March 11, 2014.

I think Gordon's positive test was in May.

So theoretically he could play Sunday.

(Also per PFT they're only raising the limit to 35 ng/ml - so there's still room to be eligible to fly a jumbo passenger jet or an F-16, but not be allowed to play in the NFL.)
