So the question is will they reduce the fine and draft picks? I'd be pissed if they dropped the first rounder and only kept the 4th, but I'm not expecting that.

I don't see that happening. Unless Kraft some how wins a court case against the NFL, I don't think the punishment will change.

Personally I felt penalizing the team that severely was too much. But if you go with my last theory then I think the loss of picks stay the way they are?

We'll see I guess. If this gets reduced I'll be disappointed, but not shocked.

Well I'm expecting a little off the top of everything. Brady to 2-3 games and picks reduced at the very least.

RIP to the pats fans declaring the suspension would be lowered or thrown out all together.

I don't recall anybody saying that it would be entirely thrown out until after the court case.

Exactly. Appease Kraft enough to keep this from going into the civil or other courts.

There will be some kind of reduction, but the idea it will be eliminated and Brady plays against the Steelers just went out the window entirely.

If the court case isn't resolved by September, Brady will presume be playing under an injunction pending its resolution.

There won't be any court case. Goodell will reduce the penalties enough to appease Kraft and avoid it.

I'm referring to Brady's case.

Unlike Kraft, he's in a very strong legal position, because of the CBA and labor law in general. So Brady will get his neutral arbitrator, unless for some reason he immediately gets the decision a neutral arbitrator would have made. This far you should agree with me.

And now for the part I don't expect you to agree with: It's unlikely somebody neutral will uphold any kind of suspension.

Hrrmph, so this was all a media circus? They should have arbitrated, because they are only damaging the reputation of the league with all this SportsHoopla.

Brady will get off altogether. The Pats will get all their picks back and they just execute the two guys that already are being scapegoated for doing what they were told...

Why would Goodell hear this himself unless he already knows what he is going to do? There is no upside to him doing this instead of just allowing an independent hearing officer.

As for Kraft and the Patriots' penalty -- I expect that to be resolved after Brady's appeal. A negotiated settlement wouldn't surprise me for that part.

Right. Even if you think Brady is a cheater and the league's penalty is fair, they should have gone straight to a neutral arbitrator.

The question is, why wasn't this done earlier. A lot of time wasted, millions of dollars ... oh wait it's tax deductible right?

Agreed. Unless Kraft and Goodell come to some backroom deal? Kraft tries to protect Brady's legacy. Offers to Goodell to eliminate the suspension (based on lack of evidence Brady did anything wrong). It's all speculative unless Roger does have a smoking gun?. Kraft says keep the picks and fine. Basically the organization didn't have organizational control. He falls on the sword for his team.
Everyone is happy?
Doesn't matter if it is 2 or 4 games. Brady will still be considered a cheater and his legacy will still be tarnished.

Hopefully we can all agree that the league didn't get its money's worth for $5 million.

How about after the neutral arbitrator knocks it down to 0 games?

Goodell will hear the case and give him a reduction.

I agree.

And after that he will go to court in an attempt to get the penalty entirely eliminated.

I think he'll succeed.
