Acting like the Chris Perry pick would have been a home run if it wasn't for the injuries and that it was a great pick for the Bengals. You could honestly tell that he believed Perry would have been a HOFer.

In fairness before Perry got injured he was electric out of the backfield. The fact of the matter though is that he is a huge bust (especially considering that they traded down to take him over Jackson).

Can't fault players for injuries. No one counts on that. What if Perry would have stayed healthy and Sjax was always hurt? Everyone would be all over the Rams for passing up Perry....who knows. Same with Kenny Irons, but of course he failed to rehab and care about playing in the NFL after he got hurt.

It is what it is, but you can't fault teams for drafting guys, and then when those guys get hurt blame the team. Perry was a durable as you get in college.

I think Lloyd Carr was mostly to blame.... He put an absurd amount of tread on Perry's tires in that last season at Michigan. There were I think at least 2 games where Perry carried the ball 40+ times that season. He then followed that up with combine workouts and I think he just hit a wall.

We have a tendency to find some RB on the scrap heap and rehab him into a decent player. I suspect it will happen again, however, I think they are putting a lot of stock into BJGE.

That is a fair assessment. I think that is something that should always be thought of when looking at college RB's.

Though, if I remember correctly, SJax really struggled against the top defenses he faced that year in college (I could be way off here, but I think I remember someone making this point during the time of this specific draft).

It is what it is. Both guys were rated up there. One got hurt, the other stayed healthy. Who knows how it would have been if the Bengals would have taken SJax...actually, he probably would have bolted town the minute his contract was up....
