What? Are you serious? How the hell do you think the name got changed in the first place? One side of the political spectrum forced the change.
Are we really doing this again? Some of us feel a name that describes a group of people by the color of their skin is wrong. Is this split along party lines? Of course, I clearly made that pont in the very post you quoted when I pointed out that most of the outrage from the "Go Back To Redskins" crowd comes from conservatives. Did I really need to continue and say most who wanted it changed are liberals? I thought that was obvious.

But sorry is Federal Express now NPR? Do they have a history of supporting liberal agendas? Maybe it's not all political after all. But from the fan's perspective it's definitely split along party lines.

I agree most of the old Redskins fans would accept Braves or Warriors. I just cannot accept the racist Commanders name. That name creates images of Native Americans being slaughtered by the US Calvary. That name is much more insulting and racist than any other possibility.
I guess if you look hard enough to find a reason to hate the name you can make this reach. When I heard Commanders I thought it was a generic military term. Never once made the connection to the US Calvary slaughtering Native Americans. Those claiming it was specific to the US Calvary are simply looking for a reason to hate on the name.

Are you black or African American?

Is Elon Musk an African-American?

Again, the American-Indian referred to themselves as Redskins in their dealings with white man.

If you have a group of people of all races and everybody has glasses, how would you describe the group?

If you look at a random group of people and they are all white,, how would you describe the group?

Agreed. The name is not racist, but then again, neither is redskins. Both names are only racist if you follow an agenda.

When you make ignorant statements like this issue is all based on one’s political leaning, then, yeah, we’re doing this again. I have friends on both sides of the political spectrum that support the name Redskins.

You might be one of the most self unaware posters on this forum. Yet you don’t miss a beat in pointing out the “misguided” opinions of those that don’t share your position. You’re the poster child of why the liberals got their asses handed to them in the last election. No self awareness.

Having said this, the name is not changing back to the redskins. In fact, it’s not changing at all.

Well, don’t forget the disappearing 10 million votes.

I never wanted to debate the reason for the name change in the first place, I simply stated my reason for believing it should have been changed. As a matter of fact I went out of my way to tell other posters they are free to feel anyway they like on the name change. Show me one post where I said they were misguided as I tried to convince them to reconsider. My only criticism was I can't believe a name is so important, I never once said someone was misguided for feeling as they do.

So to be clear I am being attacked for making the simple observation that the people who are dug in about wanted the name changed back to Redskins tend to be conservative. I never said this is a hard line, of course you will find libs who want to go back to Redskins. But there is a clear correlation here.

Yet other posters, including you, are making it clear that it was the liberals who forced this change, which also happens to be true. So why can you make global poltical statements and I get hammered for doing the exact same thing?

If we were to poll the posters here on their want of the name returned to Redskins and then ask who they voted for in November are you actually claiming there will not be a pattern?

Come on now.

I'm not doing this again.

And again I clearly said posters are free to feel anyway they wish on the name change. I literally said "As I said I'm not telling you that you are wrong to have this opinion" in Post #1454, This is something @j_y19 chose to ignore as he unleashed his unprovoked attack on me

Nope. I was just responding to your statement about identifying a group of people by a characteristic.

  • A poll conducted by Langer Research for ESPN's "Outside the Lines" in September 2014 found 71 percent in favor of keeping the name, and 23 percent thinking the name should be changed. While finding no difference based upon race or gender, this poll found a significant political difference, with 88 percent of people who consider themselves conservative say the team should keep its name, compared to 53 percent for liberals.[30]

This was not my opinion given as a shot at conservaties, and I have no idea why you got so upset when I simply posted the facts. And the facts are 88% of conservatives polled wanted the name Redskins to be retained, only 53% of liberals.. I found other polls with similar results but I'm not bother to post them as there is no need. The point was always obvious.

So riddle me this j_y because you really pissed me off. Why can those promoting the name Redskins reference polls that show Native Americans were against the name change and I can't supply a simple truth, that conservatives are more likely to be in the group that wanted the name retained by a large margin that is supported by this poll? Why you got so triggered when I made this observation is the million dollar question.

PS Referencing the election in November has nothing to do with the conversation and was nothing more than a dick move.

Here is a better question…what portion of the team’s fans believe it should be changed?

The Libtards/Communist of DC embraced the name change because it made them feel good themselves because they were being sensitive to the fake outrage of the Redskins name. While ignoring the tyranny of forcing the name change and completely ignoring the new name is much more offensive and rasist. Ignorance is bliss when you live in the DC bubble of wokeness.

The Commies are the most Racist team in history.
Not sure about the most racist team in history, but, the Commanders name is absolutely racist. This is a long read but worth it.

Those of you who are disappointed that the name won't be changed, were you hoping to go back to Redskins? Yeah I don't see that happening any more than the Guardians going back to Indians.

So what would be the purpose of finding yet another name, their 4th in a handful of years? Redskin Guy will never accept any other name, those like me who didn't like Commanders and wanted something else will be divided on a different name. So a different name will satisfy very few, not worth the time, effort and money.
Satisfy everyone by changing the name to WARRIORS and putting the Logo back on the helmet.

We don't need a history lesson to understand what happened to Native Americans. But it's a reach to make a direct correlation between the name Commanders and the genicide of Native Americans and that the name is racist. Not sure I saw the word Commander in your entire article.

Again pro-Redskins guys appear to be maknig up a reason to discredit the name Commanders. When I first heard the name Commanders I instantly thought of George Washington, General Lee etc. When you look up commander on Wiki it takes you to list of generals, both Civil War or in other countries. Nobody is linking it directly to the slaughter of Native Americans except you.

I did prefer Warriors but I understand it was a copywrite issue. Or Red Wolves but heard the same, perhaps BS from the team who was trying to justify the name Commanders.

I know, if only ..

Who am I kidding if they let us go back to Redskins I would want the shitty uniforms too. I think this was my favorite uniform .... Larry Brown era, with multiple rings on the sleeves. I had one like this when I was a teenager and have one now.

I'm with you there. I've always felt this it their best look, loved it when they played Dallas where we got to wear the home dark red on the road too. Back when we really were burgundy and gold, not that white on white or black on black shit.

No idea without bothering to look it up but I'm sure it's pretty high. I'm equally sure more conservative Washington fans feel stronger about it than liberals.
