Figured we needed an updated thread title for this season now that the Cardinals are officially in the Wild Card and maybe Division Race.

Cards pounced on some very bad defense by the Brewers and used their team speed to score 7 runs with Matt Carpenter being in a cold streak and Jose Martinez sitting out the game. Good stuff.

Bader is currently 15-45 in August and flying around like a mad man.

Cards with the sweep at Dodger Stadium.

I love the call here at 5:20 by their announcer. 'As soon as Buehler leaves, so does that ball'

I watched most of the game before recording the rest and going to sleep. I watched the last 2 innings this morning. Pretty awesome. 3 rookie starting pictures and 3 wins against the mighty Dodgers. A well deserved day off and then a tough series in Colorado.

Now 5-5 in the last 10 games. I hope the fire lights up again. Bummer to end the series win streak against Cincy, but it was nice extending it against better clubs before that. Pretty tough schedule ahead with 4 against the Dodgers, 3 against ATL, 3 against MIL, and 3 against the Cubs.
It's gonna be a great battle in the NL for the wild card spots. I think the Brew Crew gets 1 of them.

Crazy walkoff against the Giants. Id say the escaped with that one.

2 games ahead of the Rockies in the WC race (1 in the loss column)

I figured it would be the defense that would be the end of them but it turned out to be baserunning of all things. I was at a bar when the play happened and its one of the bigger trainwrecks I've ever seen in terms of how quickly joy turned into horror as everyone saw a missed strike call turn into a lengthy at bat turn into a walk turn into a hit and an error and then you see the TV cutaway to Garcia falling over like an idiot.

Still, the Cardinals have to win the GM battle in the division and they haven't done that in at least 3 or 4 years so its really hard to feel that down about that one play. This was a team I figured was going to finish below .500 so their is at least some hope in the youth movement on the team. It just would've been nice for these Cubs games to have more meaning at the end of the season.

Although sweeping the Cubs sure would be fun.
