Game Thread: Gold Medal Game (Womens) Canada vs USA (shocker I know)

I think i say this every olympics for the semi final games ... if youre a player ... and your sport/event is constantly in jeopardy/scrutiny of being pulled for lack of competition ... do you fire over 60 shots at the opposing goalie? or do you go for a skate? maybe aim for the pads???

i know i know ... "the moment you do that ... you lose" right? yah sure ... this is womens hockey ... canada and US could play shorthanded all game and still win against these other teams

That might be the best idea yet for how to make the preliminary rounds watchable.

The lack of competition is the main reason I can't get excited about the women's tournament. The gold medal game is always fun to watch, but when it's a foregone conclusion who will be playing in it, everything up to that point is boring to me.

I heard a rumor the women's game is not being shown live in the US as they don't want it to go up against the live broadcast of the women's figure skating long program.

/not that it's a bad thing, the miracle on ice was also not shown live in the US

If the Fates have really truly decided that Canada must win this game, please let the winning goal be scored by someone other than Sydney Crosby. Yes, I realize I am posting this in the women's GDT.
