Refs definitely threw in a makeup to the makeup call by not awarding the penalty shot.

At least it's not just the men's and NHL refs that can't maintain any semblance of consistency (other than consistently bad).

Personally, I'd rather the US face the penalty shot. It's like pulling the band-aid off faster. 4-on-3 in overtime is a bad situation. You get five-six chances alone on that.

It was about to be 5-on-3, if it wasn't already by the time they scored.

I'd take a 5 on 3 over a penalty shot anytime.
